Boyd snaps Achilles - Replacement?

Fucking hell. That's devastating news.

Maranta for sure, he'll gun it not being restricted to the wing and can show some of his ball skills.

We dropped Barba and Hoffman and now we need a fullback, Karma's a bitch. Would like the spot to go to Kahu or Eden. Kahu because he is a capable first grader and wasn't bad from what I saw this year and Eden because he is a specialist fullback.

Yeah cheers to all you useless pricks who wished ill on him before he arrived.

“We have a team of players, it’s no dramas. I wish it didn’t happen but it’s happened,” he said.

“Halfway through the season he will be back playing for us, we’ll manage it while he’s away and get on with life.”

Wayne sounds pretty confident he'll be back at the 6 month point, which will be June 5, Round 13, precisely half way through the season if he returns 6 months from today.

I just hope everything goes smoothly with the injury and rehab and he comes back every bit the player he is ... achilles ruptures are no joke

Why can't the football gods just give is a break?

We don't have anyone to competently replace Milford in the halves none of the u20s have played qld cup and we need to see them tackle men before bringing them in.

copely was arguably better at centre than Hodges this season and we have numerous competent wingers so I'm happy to move Hodges remember what he was doing in the finals before Tariq became the second hated Sims. We scored off a kick return.

if bennett doesn't trust Hodges the only untried person I want there is kahu. Was amazing there as a jnr. Is safe under the highball and has potential to be anything. Why go for the safe option in maranta or Eden.

That won't be happening.

How many players with Achilles injuries come back on time?

Can't believe I'm saying this but...

Maranta
over Kahu or Eden.
Kahu: just doesn't have the proven experience of Maranta at NRL level.
Eden: basically a rudimentary ESL fullback from a nothing club. At best ESL = Intrust Cup. He's a Luke Capewell. Depth signing at best.

Geez this is gonna be an interesting year now.

Bennett has to go safe. Milford's rookie rawness was going to be smoothed/comforted by Boyd's safeness. Maybe Hodges needs to fill that role, Maranta dropping back in defence, Hodges in attack.

Or throw Kahu into the fire. Griffin saw plenty to throw him into the 6 as a stop gap last year. I haven't seen enough of him to say anything but he's a solid finisher. He's another Griffin favourite (he's basically Griffin's Boyd).

We all naysay Glenn as a Griffin favourite who's overstayed his ability, that might hold true for Kahu.

You throw Milford into 1 and he'll never see the ball from 6. ?

Wayne's fucking shitting himself. Of course he has to say that. And if that is our mentality "oh it's ok, the first 6 months - or 2015 entirely - of the season we have an excuse, just like we had an excuse last year because Milford had to stay in Canberra)", then we are fucked.

Bennett's swept the backline clean to make way for Boyd and now Boyd is out, probably for the season. Don't argue the margins please.

This "misfortune" rests entirely on Bennett.

The stakes just got so much higher for Wayne. If he pulls off a premiership and he's a God.

If Milf can play well behind the atrocious Canberra halves, he can play well behind anyone. Hunt alone is better than campese/cornish and mccrone.

what's with the kahu hate. He's a fringe first grader who would be on almost nothing.
he's only disappointed in one game in an unnatural position which was his First game of nrl in centres against junior sau.
he's never had much opportunity due to injury but has plenty of potential. Meanwhile maranta has had plenty of opportunity and shown he is and always will be just a competent first grader a level below reed and lowrie who are solid first graders.

It has to be Milford IMO.

But then our squad of 25 contains 26 other fullbacks, so it could be anyone. I'd really prefer it to be Milford, and always have. Having him pop up on BOTH sides would be terrific.
