Yeah that is misleading. On a side note 4 mil for 5 years for THAT D. Fifita? Talk about paying overs. I know he has been good in english league but it is a lower tier comp

This and Gillett are easily our two worst contracts in 2020. Hopefully Ofa is working hard in the off season and stops being so dumb next year

Sydney media dribbling hard with Fifi to Souffs.
Ideally we lock Fifi down prior to the Burgess retirement/medical retirement or we may actually be in a little trouble. WB has a massive wrap of Fifi.
Why don't we hear massive rumors around the other stars in the game ie the Turbo brothers. I don't see them getting hammered by the media at pressers. I cant recall JT13 copping rumors galore when he was off contract either?
Haas, TPJ, Lodge, Turpin and now Fifita were all going to other clubs for massive $ if you read the papers.
It seems we are still the most profitable team for media outlets to sell stories on.

Was only thinking the same this morning.

Tom is a million dollar superstar already... and Jake is a ready made leader... but but but it would be a tragedy to the game if Manly lost two juniors.

Latrell is coming off contract and has been considered by some as the best player in the game but apparently roosters have ample cap space to re-sign Latrell, Manu and TKO... on top of having Crichton, Boyd and Teddy on big money, along with Keary needing an upgrade in coming years.

Latrell, Tom and Jake are already known superstars within the game and play arguably more prominent roles within a team compared to Fifita. Fifita definitely has potential to be a superstar, but would he be considered the best player in the game in a few years?? Difficult to tell but there aren't many 2nd rowers considered the best player over the years... maybe only SBW.

On the other hand Tom absolutely could be considered in contention as the best player if he can stay on the field. Whilst Jake is probably the no. 1 lock and Latrell is the best center with potential to become a lethal fullback if moved.

On the other side Eels need to lock down Dylan Brown who is reportedly after a million dollar contract on top of having Moses on anywhere between $800k-$1m

All these guys are already in Sydney, but no the media are happy for the Sydney scum to pillage up north (including Jai Arrow), because who gives a **** about Qld in this "national" comp.

One can only hope the NRL become bankrupt and all the Sydney ***** can piss off back to NSWRL... whilst super league 2.0 starts up a truly national comp.

Just wait for all the melt down articles about how many advantages we have when we re-sign Fifita long term and start dominating again. Our shit few seasons will be conveniently forgotten and the off contract Sydney players will quietly be re-signed.

I love this guy and I love what he brings, and it would be horrible to see him play for another team
That said, the only thing that would actually make me furious, would be if he legit wants to stay, and we either didn't want him, or stuffed up the negotiations and lost him.
If he is a mercenary and just wants to play for whoever pays him the most (I don't think he is) then as disappointing as that would be, he isn't really the forward leader you want
 
There's two ways this goes.

1. We sign fifita (and hopefully croft) and we really start to turn things around as a club and will look strong at stages in 2020 and competitive in 2021.
2. We lose fifita, finish 12th and within the next 10 years become the 'second' brisbane team, as the new one takes over.

*especially after they were caught rorting the cap for five years.

It does my head in how quickly we've moved on from that debacle.
 
If Meninga thinks Fifita/Croft combo is the right stuff for leading the Jr Kangaroos, we should follow his lead and install them in the same configuration for 2020. Maybe Croft wouldn't be the official VC, but he could still be calling the plays.

Appointing Fifita captain not only solves the Lodge conundrum, but gives him incentive to stay. Hard to walk away from the Bronco's captaincy, along with the prestige and perks, at his age.
