OFFICIAL Brisbane Broncos sign John Cartwright, Terry Matterson as Kevin Walters’ assistants

This is very good.

Now if he can just bring in some decent halves coaches, that will be great. You would think we would be all set with Locky and Alfie, but being good players doesn't mean you'll be a good teacher.

he seems like a decent halves coach himself. it's definitely one area where he should take a hands on role

also sounds like Kurt Richards will be remaining on the team as well, particularly around the development areas

"Richo is a good bloke and does a great job with the pathways into the NRL squad so he will remain a great asset," Walters said.

Was never in doubt, does great work at the Broncos particularly regarding ISC and is the Queensland Under 18 coach- he's a great resource with younger players. Worked with Kevvie already a lot at QRL and Broncos.

This sort of announcement is exactly why the alarm bells should probably have been sounding with Seibold far earlier than they were.

Even if we assume Seibold was a competent Coach, or at least as competent as Walters for comparison's sake, a quick look at their Assistant Coach selections and you would think it'd instantly give Walters a pretty significant edge over Seibold as a Coaching team overall.

Clearly Seibold only wanted yes men around - not assistant coaches. He seemed so set in his ways an opinionated assistant coach would clash and only cause arguments. His way at or the highway.

It's kind of random, this seems like a fair explanation but then he takes a week off and let's the boys coach themselves.. for the only win post lockdown no less. Probably just massively insecure is a possibility also and didn't want an assistant threating to take his job.

In any event the Kevolution is underway now and it's on the bus or off it.. I think the boats were burned somewhere but I missed that whole thing?

The guy thought he Harvarded his way to the futuere of NRL coaching strategies and didn’t seem to want anything around him that was a traditional approach.

He thought he was the rugby league Jose Mourinho, and maybe he is but rugby league players definitely are not top tier football player level pupils.

If the rumours about him white-anting his way into the souths job were true, you could possibly understand the paranoia he may have had about someone doing the same to him, so that may be why he surrounded himself with people he did.

I'll apoligise now for being slightly off topic but speaking of Mourinho, Prime Video has their series 'All or nothing' and the latest is with Tottenham just as Jose takes over, surprisingly I find him much more likeable that I thought I would.

Its a great series and looks at what happens behind the scenes at numerous big sporting clubs/franchises.

Even as a Liverpool fan I like Mourinho. Wonderful troll.

I love Mourinho and the sense of theatre he brings to the game. Sport is so much better when the people put in front of the media are able to speak freely and without the kind of censorship that would make the KGC and the Central Committee blush.

The NRL too would be a far more entertaining spectacle if players and coaches could actually speak their mind at the predetermined media conferences that they are forced to attend.

There is also an 'All or nothing' at Man City, Pep Guardiola is also an interesting character. 'Sunderland Til I die' is another series on Netflix that i really liked.

Anyone else coming in?

You don't reckon Kevvie is a good halves coach?

Thank you, I agree. I have no problem with anyone discussing anything, but just open a thread in the correct section of the site and have at it.
