NEWS Brisbane Broncos veteran Alex Glenn set to stay put at Red Hill

We know why mate ... haha

But I agree as far as Pangai and playing lock, although he may have to if either of the vets are kept in the starting side. Not ideal, but not the worst timeline either

Its not for that reason! He is no competition for Patty at 13!

I've never liked him there really. He impressed me more than i thought he would in the second row. I always used to like him coming from the bench, but i think his form in the second row was very good.

What about TPJ and Fifita on the edges and Glenn as lock? He's quick on his feet and knows how to poke his head through the line. Could play a Cameron Murray-type role for us.
If he has signed for us for "unders", no doubt i would give him the captaincy. He definitely shows the characteristics of a quality leader and selflessness for the team.

It is a little bit left of centre given that i am not sure if he has played there before but i think he could play lock (would probably offer more than gillett did earlier in the year). He has never shirked the hard work, has decent leg speed, his body has been pretty resilient and has solid defence and does the 1%ers.

I would try Glenn at Lock, TPJ has to be on the edge, it's a proven success you can't mess with.

He is probably the Fastest Forward we have and could work like Cameron Murray who is another small Forward with pace.

I'm fine with this, I think that's why Gillett was told he was moving to the bench.

8. Lodge
9. Turpin
10. Haas
11. Glenn (c)
12. Fifita
13. Pangai Jr

14. Segeyaro / Paix
15. Gillett / Carrigan
16. Ofahengaue
17. Flegler

Play Glenn & Fifita 80 minutes on the edges, bring Gillet / Carrigan off the bench to play 35-40 mins at Lock, play Ofahengaue & Flegler exclusively at Prop (Where they should be playing)

Yoooo, Croft has a pretty nice short ball and short kicking game, he could form a deadly combination with Fifita & Staggs on that right edge, let's go, I'm keen af now.
Also because he bloody sucked this year lol.

I do think Glenn would be good in the middle as a lock. He is fairly solid, good one on one tackles etc as well, and he is super fit. I wouldn't be opposed to him starting at second row, then after 20-25 minutes bring on TPJ and take off patty / offa and move glenn to lock.

I really like Segeyaro and mightn't complain if he were hooker rather than Turpin, but I think we might have to let him go so we can free the money for Croft instead. How many specialist hookers do we really need? What we need is an experienced half.

If Turpin is to be our starting 9, I don't see why we'd need to rest him at the 50 minute mark with another hooker. Our bench would be better served with a utility half, perhaps Paix, or maybe that could be where Dearden initially fits. Unfortunately, I fear it'll be Macca on the bench in a reversal of the Turpin/Macca combo. That won't solve anything.

I'm 99% sure he was lock (and captain) in the under 20s. Maybe a bit of history repeating.

Glenn for captain! His work ethic, image, age, experience and reputation makes him deserved of it. He speaks very well, always puts in and has a hard edge.

Proven success doesn’t seem to mean shite to seibold

That's Captain Glenn!

He'll be our captain for 2 years, then we give it to Haas :)

I hope either him or Lodge, but I'll believe it when I see it. I just have this sinking feeling nothing is going to change.

Glenn would have to be a special for our ‘veteran allowance’ you’d think? That’s up to $200k in the kitty right there...

Unless Wayne organised for Boyd to suck that up too? How flexible is said allowance, does anyone know? Can the club choose at will, across different years who gets it?

Ultimately it doesn't matter who gets it. It's 200k in total across the squad and eligible players are those who came through our junior system, players with 8+ years at the club and players with 10+ years in the NRL. If for example we're paying Boyd and Ofa 500k each, it doesn't matter if one gets 500k against the regular cap and the other gets 300k on the regular cap plus 200k of the veteran's cap, or they both get 400k/100k, or it gets spread out evenly across all eligible players. It essentially means instead of a 9.1 million dollar cap every club gets a 9.3 million dollar cap.

I have that feeling as well and the articles re lodge being captain were just a smokescreen.
