OLYMPICS Brisbane Olympic Disaster

They really should move away from thinking the Gabba can be rebuilt... that area just looks like a nightmare from a construction perspective, but it's also not a great location to get to from a public transport perspective.

One of the broncos games I went to last year took me about 2hr to get home from and I live in the city... Suncorp on the other hand is never any issues... most people will head to Caxton St, but there's also Milton and Roma St train stations as well as busses... so getting out of the city never seems an issue.

All the talk about the Olympics is focussed on this one stadium though... there will need to be big upgrades from an infrastructure perspective and it seems like they've not even identified what's required from a master planning perspective.

Seems like they're still in the planning and feasibility stage when they should be out there tendering... definite risk that they run out of time at this stage.

Transport in the area really is excellent though, busway station across the road, they were planning a CRR station there too weren't they?

It should be there for mine. **** the useless school off. The reality is, they will not replace it with grass, it'll be apartments or some other shopping BS to appease whoever. Then they'll remove more green land at Victoria Point to build a stadium there too.

Just tell the nimby's to bugger off.

Not sure but that bus station wasn't able to handle a Broncos game last year... there was a lot of construction happening around there... did they upgrade it as part of it??

Roma St has 8/9 platforms, plus the bus station and Milton has 4 platforms i think... compared to the 1 bus station at the Gabba... it was chaos getting out of the Gabba for me

It was due to be completely upgraded an integrated with the CRR with a walking bridge or a tunnel or something to cross the road by foot.

Victoria Point doesn't have transport options or as much planning already put in.

The Gabba being rebuilt would be ideal as the transport infrastructure and nightlife is already in the adjacent areas. The problem is it’ll be a nightmare during the construction phase for the area.

The Victoria Park complex could also work well with its proximity to public transport and Bowen Hills areas.

I’d love the Hamilton development to work. The public transport isn’t there but the location would be epic. On the river it could be a beautiful thing.
