Broncos Confirm 2018 Trials

Storm game Broncos lost 58-10 in 2006.
Actually, I wasn't at that game. Now that I think of it, the second "fog bowl" I attended was against the Wests Tigers. I remember Paul Langmack was running the water and a Bronco fan yelled out to him. "Hey, yesterday's hero, get the **** off the field." That was probably 2002 or 3 and the Rooster game was the year before ( I think).

Phil Lee was an underrated player, handy and a good workhorse at the time could slot in at hooker or the back row. but on Toowoomba games, in general I miss our link with the defunct Clydesdales and the trial match we would have there.
We used to go to Clydesdale games mainly to see Chris Walker. We seen him score seven tries in a game once. They used to have a really good centre by the name of Alex Wilson who I thought was eventually going to thrive in Bronco colours. He never played a game and fell off the face of the earth. Today's business of Bronco second stringers playing for various ISC teams is ridiculous IMO.

Didn't graduate from putting the ball down to make it a certain try school though. My favourite player of that generation of players was Shaun Berrigan, also thought Ben Walker was going to really come of age in 2000 after a big season in 1999 but he fizzled. Shame I felt if he did he would have really made Lockyer's job that much easier when Kevin Walters retired. Scott Prince also but that shocking run of injuries killed that.

He scored plenty more to make up for it. I got photos with most of the guys after the game. Shaun Berrigan was also one of my favourites. Does anyone know if the stand is still called the 'Nigger Brown Stand'?

It’s not there anymore. Got torn down.

Phil Lee was a great player with lots of ability. He didn’t achieve the heights he would have because of injury.

Anyone know what the go is with the ticketing for Theodore, or is it a freebie just-turn-up kind of thing? I'll be in the vicinity, so might go along and get the season started.

Look’s like it’s $10 entry

Speaking of Phil Lee, I'm dating one of his cousins. I've got to meet him a couple of times and had him sign a collection of cards I have of the 2000 Broncos side.

Good bloke.

I’m now heading to the T-Ba on the 17th with my brother for the game and a few sherbets at the Spotted Cow afterwards.

Should be a good night.

That's a try in the modern game

I hope the clubs stream these trials on their site

First trial is only a week away, might be time to start thinking about team lists. I expect we'll name a 20 man team as we usually do for the trials against non-NRL teams, with a lot of our front liners likely resting / recovering from off-season surgery. Something like this should be expected -

1. Jamayne Isaako
2. Jonus Pearson
3. Tom Opacic
4. James Roberts
5. Marion Seve
6. Anthony Milford
7. Kodi Nikorima
8. Joe Ofahengaue
9. Todd Murphy
10. Matthew Lodge
11. Corey Oates
12. Jaydn Su'A
13. Josh McGuire

14. Sam Scarlett
15. Troy Dargan
16. Tevita Pangai Jr
17. Payne Haas
18. George Fai
19. Andre Savelio
20. Salesi Funaki

Rested/Recovering: Darius Boyd, Jordan Kahu, Jack Bird, Andrew McCullough, Korbin Sims, Sam Thaiday, Alex Glenn, Matt Gillett, Sam Tagatese.

Can't find a spot for, but should get a run at some point: Patrick Carrigan, Patrick Mago, Shaun Nona, Jake Turpin, Mosese Pangai, Gehamat Shibasaki.

Anyone know if trials will be streamed?

I doubt Milford will be participating in the first trial.

He had only just started contact work around the end of January, I think they will keep him on ice and possibly give him some time in the final trial.

Are we versing a super league team this year like last year or not?
