Karmichael Hunt has revealed his concerns over the Brisbane Broncos' direction following mentor Wayne Bennett's move south sparked his shock signing with the AFL.

Wanker! Who needs him, Hoffman looks to be a better prospect anyway. Good luck to his AFL career, let it be a huge failure for him.

He's probably right.

The culture seems to have a changed a lot since blokes like Civo, Tallis and Webcke left. The squad's really young nowadays. I imagine WB leaving would've had quite an impact on the culture at the club, Ivan just doesn't have the same aura, which is understandable.

I just hope our players realise they still need to work their arse off every week and not feel as if they've 'made it' just because they've landed a contract in the NRL.

Interesting article and certainly one people should remember in the coming season.

I certainly think the culture has changed but I'm unsure whether it's changed for the best or the worst just yet, depends how this next gen. perform and I don't mean results wise. I'm talking how they play as a team.

Culture is directed by leaders. It is developed by its community. The players are as responsible for it as the coaching staff.

Fair enough Bennett leaving might have changed the culture to some extent, but for Hunt to say that was why he left is utter crap. He went for the money and that's it. Like Israel, the money he was offered who could blame him but I reckon Folau will definitely be back no doubt in my mind. I just don't see him being a success in AFL. But if the culture was that different do you think Thaiday, Lockyer or Parker would have stayed when they could no doubt get more money at another club. No matter who is coaching or running the club, the Broncos will always be the best club with the most loyal supporters as shown every yr when our crowd figures smash everyone elses. Does anyone here have less love for the club since Bennett left?

I think he has a valid point in that the club's culture changed - and not for the better. However I would also say, from seeing him close up and first had, he was actually a big part in this change. His attitude and behaviour went very much downhill over the years.

And he would do well to note that when Bennett left, he took Boyd with him to the Dragons - NOT Hunt, I think there is something in that for him. Additionally if he was so disillusioned with the club and it's culture why did he not say so upfront? No he kept stringing the club along - all the while seeing us lose very valuable players because we were keeping money aside for him.

IMO: The Culture change started after Bennett lied about coaching the Roosters.

Some players lost respect for him.

I agree with Flutterby regarding Hunt being a big part in the change.

IMO: He thought he was untouchable & he could get away with anything.

He became so up himself.

Sociololgy 101 Coxy, but true.

Hunt is a confused, despicable type who is trying to justify what he has done by blaming others and making excuses.
Who really cares what the fastbowler says?

And as was said, he was a ring leader in the culture change - we used to have hard workiing, blokeish types with old fashioned names like Kev and Gordon. He turned up with a funny name, evolving hairdo and trash talk.

What a hypocrite!

K speaks the truth.

The Broncos were the best club in the comp, then they replaced a legendary coach with a Cullen yes man..That showed just how unprofessional the club were. The club is going backwards until they get Henjak out.

Insight

Hunt was getting into trouble, way before Bennett thought about leaving.

Maybe the change was the Broncos weren't going to cover for the players bad behaviour any more & Hunt didn't like that.

Flutterby - Boyd only went with Wayne because the Broncos didn't want him.

Who cares. The culture did change but khunt was a noob and is just trying to make an excuse for stuffing the club and fans around.

OK - if that's what you want to believe, so be it.

There was an article I believe in the DT that reported this, Bennett is quoted as saying Boyd came up to him with tears in his eyes because he wasn't wanted by the Broncos.

"It was hard to hear that but that's what happens these days. there's the salary cap and you can't fit everyone under it.

"At the time I was hurting, but there's no hard feelings at all towards them. The Broncos had signed Israel Folau and everyone knows what a great player he is. Someone had to go and unfortunately I was one of them.

From that same article, sounds more like the Broncos wanted him but couldn't because of salary cap restrictions.

"Brisbane pretty much didn't want me," Boyd recalled as the best-on-ground medal glistened around his neck. "They said you can stay but we probably won't re-sign you when you're off contract.

Forgetting something GC?
