I remember this period of time clearly. Was in 100% agreement with the decision to let Boyd go and keep Michaels. Michaels had a strong finish to the season before and looked like he could become an Origin standard centre.

Since moving to the Dragons, Boyd has come on a lot mainly in that "out the back" ball playing role. He has got stronger as he fills out his body, and therefore more tackle busts have followed. Is a quality fullback, no doubt. Never spoken a word to him, but a smug a$$ seemingly from afar.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but at the time, correct move was made by the Broncos.

Can't criticise them for that at all.

Michaels became a dud unfortunately, and now we have neither. Sobeit.

Beale and Copley are sorta reaching the same stage this year. Wonder if either will kick on and be Origin standard or more. Time will tell.

Yes the tears came - when Bennett put it in his head that some players would have to go, so he may as well start looking after himself. No-one has ever mentioned he had any kind of similar conversation with Karmichael Hunt.

Hardly a huge stretch to think that Bennett did the math and when he thought about which players he could target to take with him that K Hunt was earmarked as a future broncos captain and top of the tree marquee player... so why bother planting seeds of doubt in Hunt's head when the broncos would have quickly moved to dispel those fears... Boyd on the other hand was a player with potential but would have been deemed expendable given the form that Michaels was showing at that time... No doubt that the broncos in the end made the wrong call when deciding between Michaels and Boyd but that is the benefit of hindsight... good on them though for giving Stagg and Boyd the chance to secure their futures with longer term contracts...

as much as i would like to take my anger out on him as well... Hunt sees himself as a brisbane boy which is why he turned down playing for NZ at a time where Minichello had the fullback spot locked for his lifetime if he could remain on the field.

it wasnt till after that the decision became fruitful for him snagging an aussie jersey.

he did it though cause he was from brisbane in his eyes just like most of us here and he viewed that as never changing/. thats why its hurtful he said he is no longer a fan.
