Broncos High Performance Centre

No doubt the clubs work in regards to our off field situation has been superb. That said IMO it is a little too much worry about the business and not enough worry about winning football games and being the best club in the comp. Our Aura we once had has been shattered. It will take something special to rebuild that IMO.

they are one and the same.

Makes sense. While we dominate off the field we get left behind on the field.

The broncos are in the entertainment business, how long do you think before poor on field results start to affect crowds, brand, sponsorship etc which all affect the bottom line.

Well 2013 has been a massive fail in regards to entertainment.

we'll see next year.

"As everyone knows in this game, if you're standing still, then you're falling behind."
Kind of like in the recruiting department. How hypocritical of them to come out and say this.

If we are using it we can hardly call it a place for high performance.
Yeah it is kind of like buying an expensive pair of sunglasses for a person with one ear.

I like how the administration is expanding the Broncos. We are the richest club, may as well use the cash. I think White is doing a pretty damn good job.
Nothing matters except what happens on the field.

New deal keeps Broncos in Brisbane

The Newman Government will give the Brisbane Broncos access to unused state land, allowing the team and its Leagues Club to remain at their traditional Red Hill home and to continue supporting the community.
Premier Campbell Newman said the Broncos will now be able to develop the land across the road from the current club and training oval.
“This commitment provides the land needed to keep the Broncos in Brisbane,” Mr Newman said.
“It gives the Broncos exclusive access to the unused northern part of the Ithaca TAFE campus to build a new sports field and a high-performance training facility.
“A long term lease will be given to the Brisbane Broncos Leagues Club, which will work with the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning on preliminary planning for the site.
“The Broncos have consulted not just with the Leagues Club’s 50,000 members, but also the wider local community and have stressed the need to get on with the job quickly.
“The club came to me with its plan, which will set it up for the future while creating improved community amenity and opportunities for local sporting, charity and community groups.
“It is a good plan, and we’re pleased to be able to support it and the local community in this way.”
Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek said his department’s review into TAFE sites is not yet completed, but with the northern end of the Ithaca site clearly unused, it was a win-win.
“We are happy to be able to provide an opportunity to keep the Broncos in Brisbane, as well as a way to benefit the local community and other sporting groups,” Mr Langbroek said.
Brisbane Broncos CEO, Paul White thanked the Premier for his willingness to work collaboratively and get the project going.
“The Broncos pride ourselves on being part of the Brisbane community, so we’ll make sure this facility is best not just for our club, but also for locals who support us and help make us successful,” Mr White said.
“To stay at the top of a competition like the NRL, we need to have the latest and best training facilities, and the Premier’s announcement today will allow us to do that.”

And some funding from the Coalition if they win government next month too.

So, I presume the training field will be across the road allowing the Leagues Club to expand?

ABBOTT DEFENSIVE ABOUT $5M HANDBALL
By Kieran Campbell and Sarah Blake

OPPOSITION Leader Tony Abbott has passed a $5 million election promise to the Brisbane Broncos this morning but denied he's trying to soften up voters ahead of the people's forum in the Queensland capital tonight.

The Opposition Leader will come face to face with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd for only the second time during the campaign, which reaches its halfway point today.

Mr Abbott's funding for the Broncos will attempt to undermine Mr Rudd's status as one of the team's biggest supporters.

The club said it had not spoken to Mr Rudd, the Broncos' number one ticket holder, about federal funding before Mr Abbott's announcement this morning.

The Coalition's contribution to the Broncos' $50 million project will help the revitalisation of the club's sporting precinct in Red Hill.

The funds will be used specifically for the construction of a high performance training centre and a sports medical facility.

The entire project is expected to create 85 full time jobs during construction and 35 new full time jobs when it is complete.

Mr Abbott made the announcement with Premier Campbell Newman and local federal MP Teresa Gambaro, who narrowly won the seat at the last election in the massive shift away from Labor in Queensland.

Mr Abbott took time to joke around and pass a football with current and former Broncos before his press conference.

Team jokester Sam Thaiday queried where his budgie smugglers were, which Mr Abbott said he was banned from bringing on the campaign.

"(His politics) is better than his footy. If he sticks to politics he'll be fine I think," Thaiday said.
Mr Abbott laughed off any suggestion the crowd at tonight's people's forum would be loaded with Broncos members.

"I suspect Sky News has selected the audience with the usual fairness and impartiality," he said.

"I am looking forward to a candid engagement with the people of Australia because in the end this election is not about me, it's not about Mr Rudd, it is about the people of Australia."

$5 million to the Broncos.
$10 million to Brookvale Oval (Manly).

$10 million to Brookvale Oval (Manly).

Brooky is a shithole and they'll need a lot more than that to bring it up so modern standards.

I always wondered why that bit of the TAFE looked dead whenever I went to the Leagues Club, I usually parked there if the main carparks were full.

The Broncos HPC will also cost much more than $5M (close to $50M).

I don't think any amount of money can improve Brookvale oval. It's always full of scum!
