Broncos NYC 2015

Im happy to see will brimson back in, I hope this kid gets a chance over the next few weeks. Even if he doesnt have a pathway at the club Hodges should play him so he can get picked up elsewhere, he is a wicked ball player and will play straight and take it to the line. I know some of the backrowers love having him in the team as he creates opportunities for them. Im also happy to see Collins in the starting team again, he will improve out of sight as the year goes on following on from his serious injury last year. I may have mentioned before about this kid but I reckon he coul dbe the best prop in all the 20's the club have, even better than some of the older boys too.

On a spearate note i was out a few weeks back watching the next crop of broncos coming through in the MM & CC comps. There was a young bull from North Devilss in the 16's by the name of eddy blacker(I think that was his name)... keep an eye out for this lad in the next 2-3 years broncos fans.. He has all this right attributes, size, aggression and attitude to go a long way. He is a big raw front rower. Probably not dynamic like a molo or hipgrave but similar mould to Collins.

Any of the baby Bronx in question for the 20s international coming up. Jofa, Taylor, Nikorima should be in consideration. And Arrow? Any eligible for kiwis? Lolo, terupe, Fai, Sua, Lavea? I know some of them have repped Qld, but that counts for nothing in the junior ages. Top of the table, you would hope for a few to feature.

We would want to have a pretty big representation. Every Broncos game I've seen this year (Every home game) we look a step ahead of the opposition. The ladder also shows that. But the media still talk up every other clubs juniors. Hopefully they keep that up so we can keep most of our young fellas.

Good question lionred.

I'm unsure if the likes of Fai or S'ua have elected who'd they like to represent but early indications would suggest it's Queensland.

Especially in Fai's case, he's ticked a lot of boxes that would lock him in.

These 20s sides are rarely selected on form and they often go for reputations. As such I can see Nikorima and Ofahengaue being the only certainties. There would be plenty of others pushing for a spot but I can see them going with the likes of Hutchinson/Hastings in the halves, Holmes at fullback, Lee/Mata'utia in the centres, Bird or Bateman at lock with very little room for other players.

I'm genuinely interested to see who they'll pick at hooker.

I'm interested to see if Hastings, Holmes etc are made available by their clubs. It will be a cracker of a game one would think. A "source" just told me on PM that Fai is Australian born and Qld commited. With at least sua, terupe and kalolo nz born alliegence unclear by the source lol

Jai Arrow has some really good stats, but stats don't always tell the full story.

I haven't seen much of him, has he got potential to be a quality NRL player for us?

Having a quality year, he is more selective this year with his offloads and his tackling has been huge. With Brynes he's been the Broncos' best player.

I assume that "Top Goalkickers" just means most goals kicked, rather than % wise.. because 71% is worse than Corey Parker.

5/20 Broncos in the squad.

I don't think Corey is eligible for the NYC... Maybe if he dyed his hair?!?

You're right Unbreakable.

Positioning is determined by the amount of goals they kick, not percentages. If it was based on percentages, then it may be filled with players who have only kicked once or twice a game, rendering it useless.

Taylor has been kicking well given Nikorima was intended to be the first choice kicker.

Also that's fantastic news 1910.

They certainly deserve it and I can't wait to see the team announced.

I'm guessing it will be released to the public on Monday?

Taylor and Jikorima were very good tonight. Collins was the best of our forwards from what I noticed. Drew nabbed a double but was defensively poor. Our back three caught a lot of bombs, many of them contested. Excluding the first 12 minutes the team looked very promising.

BRISBANE BRONCOS 50, PARRAMATTA EELS 28

Not sure what happened, but it seemed like the Broncos waited until the Eels hit 12 points before they started to play. They showed absolutely no urgency and the Eels really punished them for it, laying on three very well constructed tries inside 10 minutes. The tries all came off the back of the Eels ascendancy in the ruck, the forwards would draw the defence and then the backs would take the right options and burn the Broncos on the fringes. I thought Drew's defence was particularly concern.

However the forwards finally woke up, made some big hits, pressued the Eels defence and earn the team a penalty. This brought Taylor into the game and he just had one of those periods where he turned the tide of the game. Scores a try, kicks a 40/20, lays a try on for Drew, think he may have set one up for Pearson but the Broncos site has credited it to Nikorima. Whoever threw it, threw a great pass and Pearson made the most of it.

Brisbane continued to score tries at a leisurely pace and despite the Eels getting one back completely against the run of play, the game was virtually over at 40-16.

However, the Eels scored two converted tries with 15 to go to breathe life into the game. The Broncos did well to quash it pretty quick with Nikorima earning a nice quick play the ball allowing Taylor to turn Drew back on the inside for a determined try.

Then Nikorima grabbed a try out of dummy half to take the score to 50.

With seconds remaining there was a fun passage where the Broncos put up a huge hail merry kick, the Eels had it, made a break, put a kick only for Nikorima to grab it on the fly, put a kick in of his own, regather only for his attempted offload to find the Eels player. The Eels player shaped to pass it to his support but the Bronco knocked it down, calling an end to the game.

Basically, it was a slow start, but Brisbane woke up took the lead and the Eels really struggled to get back into it after that. Not the best performance but plenty of good individual performances and positives to take out of it.

I'm starting to become a big fan of Pearson.
