The fact that we don't appear to be chasing a genuine prop or two makes me think sometimes we are. It's great to have faith in your development system but tbh i think our id of young talent has lacked for a long time. When did we last id and develop a crop of genuine stars not just run of the mill players. Where are the stars in our 20s and junior reps.. it worries me that posters are excited by signing dodds ffs...we are becoming mediocre and accepting of it.

He was a gun, he isnt now. Lost a lot of pace, maybe he can build himself up a bit, but i have my doubts. Looked very ordinary whenever i saw him play for the Cutters.

Its not going to be as easy as just get him fit like they did with Boyd. He has had 3 ACL injuries that required reconstructions, and all that at 22 years old. Not sure he has the resilience in him somebody like Brent Tate had to keep coming back.

I'm also not sure we can afford to carry another fragile player like Kahu tbh.

A couple of things.

1. We have no idea who we are chasing. All the genuine props that are worth chasing hard are currently under contract. We can't just go and sign them. There is a lot of background work that has to happen that happens behind closed doors.

2. Anyone that takes any notice of what Bennett says to the media deserves to get themselves worked up. Just because Bennett says we aren't chasing Napa doesn't mean we aren't. Look at what he said about 3 days before we signed Roberts. What would you prefer him say "we desperately need to sign a prop because I have no faith in the guys we have... no guys we have, go out and play hard for me"

3. There is nothing wrong with being excited about the Dodds signing. He is a great defender, a hard hitter that brings experience and wouldn't have cost a lot. It doesn't shut the door on a napa etc. so what exactly is the problem?

Ofahengaue might not even be on the bench, let alone starting. Not ready yet.

I was perusing the roosters forum and they speak of Kane Evans being on the outer.

I'm aware napa is the preferred and more logical choice as a local Brissie boy, but what are thoughts on Evans?

Just a purely hypothetical question. haven't seen much of him lately but he's one of the biggest bodies in the league, and i still remember him tearing apart a QLD u20's team from memory

I agree that is does hurt if we don't sign a big body for 2017 but it can be a building year for 2018 and we still have the players to push for a premiership

Agreed. I really cannot see Dodds starting. Perhaps a bench role but I'd say he's more likely to spend more time in QCup then he does as a starter.

Not the worst signing as we lack a little experience at prop.

That's true, although he only averaged 28 minutes a game.
He does average more than 9 mtrs per run, which is actually not bad at all.

His stats for 2015:
- 9 games played
- 28.3 minutes per game
- 21.8 tackles per game
- 4 runs per game
- 36.6 meters per game (9.15 per run)
