And it's also full of stories of guys who go from club to club and don't, nothing is certain.

Sure is but given what potential this kid showed early on and his injury struggles since coupled with the fact he would no doubt be on minimum wage with no guarantees of playing first grade, why not give him a shot? There can't really be a loser in this situation also given he isn't stopping anyone else of any note getting a contract.

Oh don't get me wrong I'm not saying we shouldn't give the bloke a go, all I'm saying is a fresh start doesn't mean he will come good necessarily either, realistic expectations aren't a bad thing to have.

It also seems to me that Wayne is knocking on a very specific door. He wants a real power running centre as good ones are rare and are a point of difference for any contending team that has one.

In the last ten years, I would argue the only really good ones have been Inglis, Hodges, Folau and Chambers. This year you could throw in Leilua too obviously and I would argue Kata.

Idris could have been but missed the boat for obvious reasons. Gagai could get there but gets shuffled around too much between positions and has defensive issues BUT I don't believe it is a coincidence Wayne took him to Newcastle and has tried to get him back since. Copley has all the ingredients but is let down by horrible hands and a penchant for knocking himself out. Hurrell is another if he can get his head straight and dedicate himself.

I would argue the most likely next one at present is Bird, he probably already is there and has the ability to play make as well. He is a gun.

Guys like Jennings, Roberts and O'Neill are fast but lack the power side of things to an extent.

Morris, Reed, Croker, Opacic, Linnett, etc are all primarily Defensive centres.

Then there is this obsession with Dugan that I just can't figure out, he's not and never will be a centre.

So, after all that, given we chased Inglis (but not at the price he wanted) and Gagai, have since signed two outstanding potential late bloomers in MPJ and Moga, don't be surprised to see one of those guys in the team come round one if either or both have a massive and impressive off season + trials.

As always, I agree.

I agree with everything except calling Mosese Pangai MPJ I don't think the surname is Pangai Junior.

I would like to see this guy in action (don't know how well he plays) but with his bro running inside him that would be great!

jeez you can tell its offseason on here haha.

some good depth in our outside backs now and plenty of potential + competition for spots. should bring out the best in.. someone!, and whoever that may be will play plenty of first grade in 2017

I agree with Sproj.

I do have a feeling either Tautau Moga or Mose Pangai will be in the team come round 1.

I just realised something profound yesterday. Wayne Bennett coaching the England side means he'll have access to build rapport with Elite English players and eventually sign them up to the Broncos one day :)
England will be like Broncos' feeder club.

Ahead of who? What backline are you suggesting?

This is all based on me guessing, but I feel that Oates might be going to the back row with Mead on the left wing, Kahu on the right wing with Roberts at right centre and the left centre position vacant for the opening rounds.

Could be completely wrong though and Kahu plays left centre.

I see 2 potential backlines for next season -

1. Boyd
2. Oates
3. Kahu
4. Roberts
5. Mead

2. Mead
3. Opacic / Moga / Pangai
4. Roberts
5. Kahu

If whoever plays left centre plays really well there at the start of the season I can see Opacic finding it hard to get back into the team.

We already had the English billy slater. Who else have they got?

Opacic won Rookie of the year.. why would be struggle to make the team or why have him so far down the pecking order?

Whats the go with Napa? Any you heard anything>

Just because he won rookie of the year doesn't mean that he has cemented a permanent spot. If someone is playing well, he might just have to wait for his shot.
