Apparently Chris Garry have been told by the Broncos we do not have the cap space to go after AFB, how can that possibly be given we have Boyd, the money for Fifita and Kahu off contract??

Not sure why you guys believe anything reported! You're normally so clear headed on these things. I don't pay attention to the made up stories and most especially the ones concerning salary caps, wages and monies in general. Unless you see the books yourselves it must all be guesswork.

why are people freaking the **** out over this BS claim that we don't have the money for AFB ...

how often do clubs trot out that claim when there are other reasons for not signing said player. for example, maybe his wage demands are ridiculous. in our case it is likely that we won't sign any player until we lock in a coach ... because no club ever hands a coach a player they don't want (unless they were already signed under the old coach)

we had 750k minimum set aside for Fifita ... that alone should be plenty to get AFB

I don't really understand why AFB would want to leave Sydney and head to Queensland, his wife has family in New Zealand. If he's going anywhere it'll be the Warriors, who desperately need an elite prop.

NRL.com is reporting that the club have told them that we are no chance of signing AFB or any other elite "middle forward" they don't sight salary cap issues in this article.

which means that the club view other areas as higher priorities

they also refer to Lockyers talk about us waiting for a new coach before making further signings

The reason is that the two guys reporting it, Chris Garry and Brent Read are basically the only two league journalists with any credibility and sources at the Broncos, if they say it, it is usually legit.

We can throw Joffa att hem plus $100k, Warriors don't have anyone to offer other than Harris.
