Clubs have to be cautious with Fonua-Blake. Quality talent, but like Pangai Jr he plays right on the edge and he's been extremely lucky on a few occassions to escape harsher sanctions. Similar to Pangai Jr as well, he's strong with the football but his first contact leaves a lot to be desired. A lot of his and Taupau's woes are covered by Trbojevic who is one of the best hitters in the game but it's an aspect of his game that needs work.

Brisbane can 'afford' him, what they can't do is afford to buy marquee players before they sign off on a coach. There's a few exceptions to that rule, if James Tedesco decided he wanted to come to Brisbane they would absolutely get that deal done, but Fonua-Blake, Tamou? No.

On the face of it 2021 will be another lean year which will effectively be 3 poor seasons in a row. You could even argue four if you make the case that 2018 was a massive over-achievement and they still had 48 points put on them in a final. It's tough for the fans, but there's no guarantee that they're boned for the next 10 years like some outlets are reporting.

Edit: it’s not likely that someone of AFB’s caliber will be on the market again this off season.

Patience has run thin with Milford, he his not the marquee player that we envisioned him to be.

Marshall returning is a no brainer but the goal should be to get a top tier rep half by 2021. A Shaun Johnson perhaps or anybody else who can break contract mid season for a swap-type signing with Milford.

Lockyer was right in having reservations about Dearden, he is not ready. Glimpses of potential are there but still raw and being part of this continuing slump could damage his confidence and playing ability later on.

Another perspective would be for the club to give the experienced ISC halves a go. Look how Souths Walker and Titans Forgarty have flourished so far. Being overlooked for years will surely bring out that hunger to perform.
Looking forward to how Gamble goes. He could surprise.

The reason is that the two guys reporting it, Chris Garry and Brent Read are basically the only two league journalists with any credibility and sources at the Broncos, if they say it, it is usually legit.

We can throw Joffa att hem plus $100k, Warriors don't have anyone to offer other than Harris.

Oh of course but Garry (who reported about the finances) would have likely asked his contact at the club and would have relayed the answer he receives. He is one of the VERY few journalists not in the business of making stuff up.

He wasn't really any good when he was with us last time. Had a couple of nice moments but for the most part was average and it's not going to be any different now. He's not going to come here for minimum wage, that's why he left in the first place.
