Broncos Player Movement and Rumours 2020

Our worst ever signing for mine is that albino Prop we rushed over from England that one year when we were really in the doldrums. I can't even remember his name, Tolman or something. He was barely off the plane before he was lining up for us, was sighted at most 4 times then was never seen again.

Worst ever signing is Kennedy, hands down.

Others can be discussed for second but it will take something tremendously bad to beat that bloke. Kennedy would be up there in discussions for worst recruitments of any club of all time in reality, not just the Broncs.

Elegy is got to be worth a one year deal.
Im hesitant as all hell but he did show some good signs early on before that year off. Left footer which is a pro.

Bennett just gets him to work on his defensive flaws which is why he isn’t in first grade mind you having gillett next to you bloody helps imagine if nikorima had to defend between Cartwright and hurrell

Israel Folau was pretty good from the moment he arrived

Just read that Tyrone Roberts has been released to return to Australia. Now or never to sign him. Imo I would rather stick with Niko, but Roberts does have a better kicking game.

Roberts back the Titans is what I've been reading.

The hottest rumour in the game at the moment is that Blues Origin star Angus Crichton is set to backflip on his rich deal to join arch rivals Sydney Roosters and remain at Souths in 2019.
The story goes that the Roosters still haven’t nailed down some of Crichton’s third party deals, putting the move in jeopardy.
But I’ve looked into it, talked to both clubs - and it won’t be happening.
Souths have decided not to pursue the issue and are moving on, looking around for an edge forward to replace Crichton.
One man they are looking at is Broncos winger Corey Oates, who has the makings of a fine back-rower with his size and speed.

The Mole

I blame it more on the team/coaching at the time... and probably more so the issue that was Hoffman

Barba showed at the sharks the next year that with two even remotely competent halves in front of him, he is a world class fullback... and would've fit perfectly into the team structure that we like to run ie sweeping plays around the back

Hook's determination to fit Hoff into the spine resulted in Barba having to play 5/8 whether he had the 6 on or not. It was a total waste of his talents just to compensate a winger in the spine.

The shift into the 6 jersey and bulking regime just compounded the issue further.

If it's structure that players need to excel then no one will want to come to the broncos. The only pull we seem to have is that you may get to hang around some past legends like alf or Lockyer. Look at bird, signs on with all the pressure to somehow create miracles and is savaged when there isn't an structures or plans to utilise his strengths. Same as what happened with barba.

Mole also said the Storm are looking to sign Blake Austin. Even if slater retires and Munster goes to fullback either jacks or Croft are playing reserve grade and I would take either

Remember when Kennedy was considered a 'star signing'.

I would take Croft.

He would be better suited for Milford than Jacks. He didn't have the best performances to start the season but I think that was down to pressure of who he was replacing and the expectation put on him.

There is that risk, but I think he would be better here. He wouldn't have that pressure of trying to replace Cooper Cronk.

There must be more to the Croft story, sure he had a couple of rough games but he also showed plenty of good things for such a young half and was worth persisting with IMO. The Storm heap the pressure on him to play instantly like Cronk then canned him after some errors in a few games. The whole team were making errors at the time not just Croft.

He must be a mega knob or something and has gotten offside with Smith and/or Bellamy.

Jacks has been solid and maybe that's what Bellamy wants in that role but I think Croft can offer more.

There were rumours Smith reduced him to tears in the off-season due to his attitude.
