Broncos Player Movement and Rumours 2020

He was strong when given a proper go under tough conditions. Barrett didn't like him running- why you'd sign a running hooker with great running instincts and then hand cuff like that who knows. Parcell is too smart for just stand and pass- train a back rower to do that.

So left.

He still wasnt amazing for Manly though.

It really is subjective. No point arguing about it.

It's not really subjective. Players who perform amazingly don't get dropped, and he was no more than decent for Manly.

He just didn't do what Barrett wanted him to do. If his style of play isn't suited to a particular coach you are fighting an uphill battle

He started the season then got injured. They had Apisai Koroisau who was fresh off winning a premiership at hooker. Can understand why Barrett thought he was better off with Koroisau.

I think if Parcell stayed at Manly, they'd have the Queensland hooker and halfback in their spine.

Wow, everyone should have someone that looks at you the way that some of you look at Parcell.

I like that guy and think he is a decent player but some of this is over the top. If he was the destined to be the QLD hooker he wouldn't be in the Super League (and spare me the chance to see the world rubbish). You are trying to tell me it is all Barrett's fault, well if he was so good what is wrong with the other 15 coaches? Were they worried that having such a stand out would impact badly on the rest of the players.

People can disagree with me all the want but this "would be one of the best in the game but wanted to travel the world is rubbish". NRL careers are short if you are lucky, if you are that good travel the world when you are retired with the money you made. The reality is he is a good player that with things all going in his favour would have a chance at being a starting hooker at a club, most likely a bench hooker but got offered decent money and more opportunity in the Super League, and what is wrong with that? why do we have to embellish everything all the time?

Lol. Some people have different aspirations than NRL. Is it that hard to believe.

Oh and in regards to embellishment, refer back to the ‘pot, meet kettle; you’re black’ meme.

1910 reported when he left Brisbane that Parcell was wired differently. He is highly educated and his dream was to see the world. Pretty simple and understandable, really.

What have I embellished?

I’m right there with you @upthebroncs. It’s more a blight on the coach than it is on Parcell in not using your players to their strengths. The bloke is all class and I agree he would likely be the origin hooker if he didn’t have aspirations to travel the world, which is really what it comes down to. I hope he comes back and saves us from Macca.

I've always really rated him, but for whatever reason he didn't succeed at Manly. Nobody can get away from that at all. He played a totally different game from the one he did at Ipswich

A magician in the super league

Greg Eden is a try scoring machine in Super League. Couldn't cut it here. Sam Tomkins carved up Super League, he also couldn't cut it here. Shannon Walker was outstanding In Q cup but couldn't make the grade in NRL. All performing well at that level does is give you a platform to get noticed. It's then what you achieve in the NRL that ultimately matters.

Agree. Neither does the highlights from one game in an inferior competition adequately convey a player's ability.

If you were a coach you'd be the kind to dismiss Granville before he made it at the Cowboys, or Cook before he was at the Rabbits.

It's all just a matter of perception.

He's better than McCullough in my opinion.. and by default that means he could be the Queensland hooker.

I understand what you are trying to say, but what if that isn’t Parcell’s end goal, which is complete blasphemy to most of us, I understand.

I remember 1910 saying at the time that he was always going to Europe as that was his priority.

Well we will obviously disagree but in my opinion that is just what people do. Like if you go for another job or a promotion and miss out, you reason that "oh well, this is better anyway because I know this job, or the other one would be more responsibility/too busy etc. I now have more for this etc. etc."

He could have been lacking confidence and thought his game suited super league more at that time.

Coaches weren't very open to the idea of a running hooker, they all wanted the next Cam Smith (Hence Macca as our hooker)

Now that there have been changes to the interchange and just the general structure of how teams are playing, Parcell would be a great hooker in the NRL.

I'm still holding out for Segeyaro to get a starting gig.

Is there a conspiracy brewing here that NSW clubs are trying to destroy the careers of any potential replacement for Cam Smith?

Parcell was a very solid addition when he was with us in 2015. It's no surprise that was probably Macca's best season with us IMO, because not only was he not forced to play 80mins, but he also had some decent competition.

It's clear to see that Macca needs another hooker on the bench to give him a spell. Was obvious in Origin.

Very keen to see Nikorima back in the #14

Absolutely. If NRL isn't his goal that's fine.
