Lockyer would've stayed FB and his career doesn't go the way it does IMO.Can't really think of a good thread to bring this up, so I'll do it here.
Did anyone watch the Matty Johns interview with Joey Johns last night? Was really interesting, there was a part where Matty asked him what his biggest regret was, he said he got a massive offer from the Broncos in 2000 and regrets not taking it / wonders how his career would've turned out differently.
****, could you imagine that? We could've had a Lockyer & Johns halves pairing for 7-8 seasons, in their primes.
We'd have won all the premierships! 2001 & 2002 we'd have had 1 Lockyer 6 Johns 7 Alf. Holy shmoley.
His defence is Bryce Cartwright-like.Don't rate Dufty. I reckon he'll have to bulk up to remain useful long term which will hinder his speed and while I don't profess to watching a ton of Dragons games I haven't seen much from him other than running game.
Still early days but looking like Matt Dufty could be squeezed out of the Dragons by Norman. Would be an excellent pickup for Fullback
What about the 2006 spine: 9. Berrigan (Ennis injured), 7. Johns, 6. Locky, 1. Hodges (Khunt and Boyd on the wings).
Immortal-in-waiting Shane Perry would’ve usurped Johns anyway
The TRUE immortals 13:
1. Corey Allan
2. Lachlan Maranta
3. Scott Minto
4. Jack Reed
5. Leon Bott
6. Palmer Wapau
7. Shane Perry
8. Nick Kenny
9. Ian Lacey
10. Carl Webb
11. Chris Beattie
12. David Stagg
13. Patrick Carrigan
The people's TRUE immortals. These guys were so good, the Broncs either only let the mpart of their career there, finished their career for them or just realised the NRL wasn't good enough for them, or in the case of Carrigan, purely wanted Wolfie to have sleepless nights.
No Stuart "How the hell did I play SOO" Kelly?
Pearce and Mullen are special cases I think. Mullen in particular, thrown in far too young and touted as the next Johns. That said, not sure who else you'd go with in the halves. Maybe PWall? **** Anasta too, overrated ****.
You know who else was touted as the next Andrew Johns?
Benjamin Hunt
