Broncos Player Movements and Rumours 2013

That's the terrible truth of the shitty decisions made by management. Why did we ever even consider buying Prince? Ever. He's old and shit.

Didn't you suggest we should before he signed back in October?

Alec - What's that chicken little post supposed to prove?

He's showed Broncos that he's a big sook, is willing to chase the money and also thinks playing in his preferred position is more important than playing for Broncos. So why try and keep him, let him leave Broncos, we dodged a bullet damn it.

He's a pro footy player. If I was in his shoes and had that offer I'd be all over it like a fat chick on a male stripper.

J Y Ye showed how quickly your career can end, I reckon anyone who can get paid that much over their current true value would be stupid not take it.

Also if the Broncos truly believed in his talent as the next big thing they would not be letting him walk it's that simple. It doesn't matter what they say in the media the proof of how they rate him is right there.

Hmm, what?

Alec said:
Yeah, Wallace and Prince with no replacements for another year. No one really coming through, not looking to sign anyone... we'll probably see Wallace and Gillett in the halves in 2015. I seriously have no idea what they are thinking.

Oh no, the sky is falling! JT, Carney & Widdop have all been signed. We'll probably see a backrow in the halves. Oh the humanity!

Seriously, this nonsense has to stop.

We've got this.

Not for long.

What kind of future would we have under Norman? It's amazing how he's perceived as our great white hope when it wasn't even a few months ago he was seen as an utter numpty.

You lot have nothing better to do than throw stones.

What kind of future would we have under Norman?

Depends if it's at five-eight or fullback. I don't think Norman was going to offer a lot at five-eight but frankly that is completely beside the point you are trying to make.

You think the club has "got this" when the club thought that Norman was a big part of our future. Now he's not, and it looks like Hunt isn't either. Regardless of whether Norman was a good future, the club did and has failed to see that future into fruition. Now, that might ultimately be a blessing but it won't be because of good decision making from management.

Maybe things will be okay, but I don't see why we should believe that Gee and Hook and co have "got this". They don't.

Trying to make? "We got this", wasn't my point, that was a tongue in cheek add-on.

My point was actually that all some people do is bag the club out and have nothing to do but latch onto extremes for the sake of...? I don't even know. Some people just need to be heard and have nothing thoughtful to add so they just bag out the club.

We just have to wait and see what that decision is. Skimping out on JT, Carney and Widdop isn't the end of the world like some are making it out to be.

If there isn't a decision, then go for your life. The club deserves what they get but until then can we stop all this 'we'll probably be stuck with Gillett/Wallace' rubbish?

Hard to be positive about our recruitment and retention when it has been shit for several years. If we had highly rated young halves and fullbacks at the club ready to fill the vacant positions I think we would be less up in arms.

Our recruitment and retention was good in 2010 & 2011 (recruiting for those following years). 2012 turned out shit but misfortune played a cruel part in that.

We definitely need to hit the player market, but it's not as dire as people are making it out to be either.

I think it is pretty dire when you look at the players off contract. Sure a player could ask for a release but that is pretty unlikely. A squad is far from bad but we are lacking that 1 star playmaker. Making the 8 isn't enough we want to win premierships.

That's because you forget how some of these stars got their starts.

Who was JT before he went to the Cowboys?

Exactly.

Plenty of good up and coming talent worth pursuing.

Lets hope we pursue this good young talent then.

Good one Pete. So which awesome young talent have we signed the last 3 years? Prince, Stagg, Carlaw, Tronc?

Don't put words in my mouth Dave, I never said we signed awesome young talent in 3 years.

What we did do was re-sign our stock of promising young and up and coming players.

In those years I mentioned.

When we needed a prop, we brought in Ben Hannant. When we needed experience, we brought in Petero Civoniceiva. And when we were looking short in the backs we unearthed a very handy stop-gap option in Reed who performed so well he made his way into International footy and honestly didn't look out of place.

Sounds pretty darn good to me.

Time has come to re-enter the player market and replenish our stocks.

Haha yeah you're a funny one Pete. You hang shit on Reed all the time. now you are praising him just to support your argument.
Haha yeah we signed up our promising youngsters. So where is Beale, Gagai, Frei playing again? Where is Norman off to next season? What about Ben Hunt? How is Prince playing these days? How is young Stagg going?

Hindsight is always 20 20. Everyone on here was sold on Macca, he hasn't as yet lifted to that next level as expected. As far as halves we backed our up and coming youngsters who are still very young but look a shade below top class. Yes we do need a match winner but any recruitment program takes a few years when you commit to a certain course which doesn't turn out as anticipated. Then there is Kahu who had 2 serious injuries.
We had a plan, it didn't turn out now we have to get a new plan.
