I'd sign Merrin for 800K.
I'd pay Merrin 800K if we had a $20million salary cap.
Rumours going around that Merrin will end up at the Rooters anyway.
They're losing SBW, so that's $750k, and Mini, so what, $250k for his last year or so? That's a million spare.
Gaining Ferguson. ~$400k?. And Merrin, being reasonable $500k. So that leaves $100k, plus the $250k cap increase on 2014. $350k to upgrade all of those 2nd tier players to top 25, and underpaid rookies like Tupou?
Losing SBW and Mini is a blow for the Roosters as they have been great players for them but it frees up a lot of cap space and signng both Merrin and Ferguson signing is a possibility. The Roosters are still well covered with RTS replacing Mini and Guerra getting a starting spot. The Roosters will still be a strong side next year.

There is every chance that the Roosters will need to offload Guerra, Cordner, RTS, Tupou etc at some point as they will demand a higher paycheck later in their careers as they have the potential to be anything. The talk that the Roosters are cheating the cap is nonsense.
Who here said anything about cheating? All I see are reasons why they can't afford to sign a player not on their books.

Didn't mini sign on for one more year last year? If so he won't be on a lot of money as he's not worth it.
Roosters should have no room despite losing SBW as they have Tupou, RTS, Guerra and Cordner etc to upgrade.
They do have one youth player who looks to have a lot of SBW like skills. Don't remember his name but im not referring to Meehan.
Jakiel Mariner? He was their best against the Warriors in their final game.
