I'd pay Merrin 800K if we had a $20million salary cap.

Rumours going around that Merrin will end up at the Rooters anyway.

If we had that cap, I wouldn't even bother with Merrin.

Use that money to lure JWH, George & Tom Burgess, DCE and Graham to the club and just move McGuire to lock.

They're losing SBW, so that's $750k, and Mini, so what, $250k for his last year or so? That's a million spare.

Gaining Ferguson. ~$400k?. And Merrin, being reasonable $500k. So that leaves $100k, plus the $250k cap increase on 2014. $350k to upgrade all of those 2nd tier players to top 25, and underpaid rookies like Tupou?

Remember that "unnamed" Roosters official trying to tell us all (in the SMH? article) that they were able to sign Maloney, SBW and Jennings with a spare 300k they had in their cap ... thats some creative accounting right there, in fact Waldron would be pretty happy with that effort

lol, imagine if the Roosters got Merrin and Fergo for next year, they'd have to be $1.01 to win the premiership.

1. Tuivasa-Scheck
2. Kennedy-Dowall
3. Ferguson
4. Jennings
5. Tupou
6. Maloney
7. Pearce
8. Warea-Hargreaves
9. Friend
10. Moa
11. Guerra
12. Cordner
13. Merrin

14. Aubusson
15. Napa
16. Nu'usausala
17. Liu

Losing SBW and Mini is a blow for the Roosters as they have been great players for them but it frees up a lot of cap space and signng both Merrin and Ferguson signing is a possibility. The Roosters are still well covered with RTS replacing Mini and Guerra getting a starting spot. The Roosters will still be a strong side next year.

RTS seems like he won't be quite anywhere near as good at fullback as was predicted last year, at least yet. But it won't take much to be better than Mini.

Didn't mini sign on for one more year last year? If so he won't be on a lot of money as he's not worth it.

Roosters should have no room despite losing SBW as they have Tupou, RTS, Guerra and Cordner etc to upgrade.

They do have one youth player who looks to have a lot of SBW like skills. Don't remember his name but im not referring to Meehan.

Don't see it happening but who knows with the Roosters.

There is every chance that the Roosters will need to offload Guerra, Cordner, RTS, Tupou etc at some point as they will demand a higher paycheck later in their careers as they have the potential to be anything. The talk that the Roosters are cheating the cap is nonsense.

Who here said anything about cheating? All I see are reasons why they can't afford to sign a player not on their books.

There was a thread recently about it in the League talk section about it but we all disapproved of the article. Seriously speaking I wouldn't think Tupou, Cordner etc would be on huge contracts as they are still quite young and can be developed further and have been at the Roosters since they were juniors.

Jakiel Mariner? He was their best against the Warriors in their final game.

Pretty sure that's the one. He threw a ridiculous flick offload for a try. It was an insane piece of skill.
