Hope DD has the negotiating skills that he can use in our retention department as well as recruitment. Hasn’t got Craig as a back up and it’s early days for Kevin’s pulling powers. Perhaps his first test will be Coates. Storm will go all out to get one over him and what better way to announce his arrival than retaining Xavier.

that tweet is pretty much just a reverse of what they would have tweeted if we matched (or beat) the Warriors big offer to keep him

That aside, I have a bad feeling about Reynolds and hope we don't sign him. He should stay at Souths, that's his home. They know better than us what he's worth yet they're not willing to risk three years. He should accept the one year and prove them wrong. He can always go elsewhere at the end of that year. But it seems even he doesn't back himself that far out.
Reynolds has a young family to think about it. Just suggesting he should 'back himself' is all well and good but he has other people to think about. I personally think he will go to the Sharks. The captaincy for the Broncos doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things if he has to uproot his family from Sydney.

I haven't watched Walsh yet but media reporters simply don't understand all the ins and outs concerning contract negotiations, they're not privvy to the behind the scenes. If the Broncos didn't sign him I'd say they probably would have tried but failed. I think the Broncos would have seen his talent but it's just business.

I don't blame anyone for earning as much as possible as early as possible in a career. JYY had his career terminated in an instant and that can happen anytime so there's a lesson in that, get it while you can. This lads heart might always be in Brisbane and we might sign him later or maybe never see him again but we cannot sign everyone everytime, we aren't the Roosters.

I won't be surprised if we sign Mbye btw. He's decent and may be gettable on a good rate. At the right price I reckon he could surprise a few.

So what. It doesn’t change the situation. We need to be smarter.

Each player that leaves from our 2020 squad should be handed an actual wooden spoon on their way out as a reminder for what they achieved at this club.
I think Woodenspooner tattooed to the forehead would be more appropriate. Not to be to cruel it would wash off after the first 12 months at their new club.

Mmmbop is one of the most overpaid players in the league's, he's the definition of a plodder and he's on a very decent contract at the moment.

He's highly average at best and not what our team needs at all
Fair enough. KW rates him and there's a potential depth signing there at a competitive price if the Dogs chip in for 22. I'd like him to come simply because he covers a lot of positions, is experienced and fit, a qlder and now is mature enough to appreciate what he has. I wouldn't be upset if we said we'll take him on a Dogs subsidised deal for 22 and offered him a carrot for 23. You never know what value we could get from such a scenario.

Another thing is he's not terrible and made rep teams throughout the years so many have rated him as having ability and it's possible he might have re-dedicated himself to a career as a rugby league pro. He also has become a family man. I'm just saying it wouldn't surprise me to see him added to our depth especially if the rates are good.

They will all eventually leave at some stage even if it's by retirement however if we win a comp before someone leaves I would be happy to exempt them from getting a spoon.

i hate the narrative on Walsh, sure he looks good but realistically he had 2 tries assist against the storm when the game was finished and he had a try assist yesterday that was basically set up by Nikorima. He good but no where near the level of walker, and the media keep going on like hes been the warriors best player the last 2 weeks

Not being on the level of Walker is not really a negative, Walker has been absolutely insane.
Walsh has been really impressive for a rookie his age. He doesn't deserve the same hype as Walker, but he does deserve hype.
