Unfortunately I also think Kevvie is the Dean Pay for Broncos where he has to wear the shit roster during his tenure only for someone else to come in and spend all the money.

Thoughts on Adrian Lam coaching the Broncos if Kev does happen to fall out of favour? We could always sign his son too. He seems like a decent player.

Hoy is trash... I know you've not seen much footy this year, but knights are where they are in large part to having Hoy as back up to Ponga whilst he's been injured for most of the year

Well that is disappointing, he seemed decent last year. Scratch him off the list then. As mentioned though, I reckon we should just run with Cobbo.

Not a big fan of Lachlan Lam from what he's shown this year... and I'm against signing anymore project players. We arent in a position to take a punt on someone that will need to fill a spot in the starting 13, we've got more than enough of them.

I think Kelly brings more to the position than what Lam does and he is a known quantity on the field. He can fill a hole until Ezra comes through, but as soon as Ezra is ready it's not hard for him to displace Albert.

Regarding coach... I have no idea on who should be next coach, but whoever it is needs to be a man manager and also have some smarts about them from a footy perspective. Cant be one or the other. I haven't heard a lot about Lam's development in that area, but I think he is pretty well respected across the NRL (playing days more so than coaching) and has charisma about him, the question would be his footy nous, but he did spend time with Robinson.

It will be interesting to see how we turn up next year after recruiting smart professional footy players and seeing where the culture, attitude and onfield aptitude lands us.

I think a Finucane in the forward pack would be icing on the cake in terms of leadership and changing direction... maybe Ryan James could be an Aldi version, but we need a couple more old heads in there that understand current football trends.

They should be throwing stupid dollars at Robinson, even if we have to pay an extra 40% to the nrl for having staff cap high.

He just doesnt offer anything... he looks like a Brimson, but he brings nothing in regards to the ball playing that a Ponga or Walsh brings and he cant seem to break the line... he literally just finishes off whatever everyone else does inside him, but so can 90% of fullbacks in the league.

He's probably a worse Niu at the moment... and I'd say Niu has been better than him this year.

I prefer to use a depth chart to look at the squad, rather than a team list, to get a more complete picture of squad depth based on which players can cover multiple positions etc... It's not a prediction on what the team will look like, just an analysis of the makeup of the squad and who could play where (so the order of the players is just an estimate).

Here's what we have for this year based on 29 players we are likely to have on the books (I'm not including Gagai at the moment because it's just speculation and I'm keeping Isaako because I'm not sure anyone will take him off our hands), so there is likely one more player to fit into here somewhere... it looks like we are lightest on for centres.

Haas is stepping up at the moment and I really like Carrigan as a player, but they still need another guy to set the standards, which they can follow and bring the other young forwards along with them. Haas and Carrigan are our two best middles so if they follow a good senior leader the other guys will follow along as well.

A guy like James has been a captain and is always part of leadership groups... we may only get 30-40mins a game out of him, but he's probably like a Tamou signing... or if we could land a JBrom, Finucane, etc.

You dont necessarily bring them in to be massive contributors on the field each game, but they set a standard off the field for every training session and they've built up enough respect across the league that our young players will follow them.

It's why a Tolman or Woods would be good for us on field, but potentially they dont have the reputation to really inspire the rest of the playing group.... or in the case of Woods perhaps he's a bit too casual, which can be negative on setting the standards

Me too. From the coaches available (I do not count Bellamy), Lam is currently my preferred choice.

One of the things that make the Roosters so consistently strong and successful (and is rarely talked about) is the way they are happy to move guys on either right in the middle or at the beginning of their downward spiral as a player.

Even if that same player has another great year immediately after...?

So when i see Lodge & TPJ go, even though everyone admits they have something to offer and maybe in their peak....

Thats what i think of...

So, the other side of the coin is the guys the Roosters bring in or promote...

Guys on less coin, but not quite the finished product...

And i look at Corey Jenson...

You know who I would love to sign.. Rhyse Martin.. He's off contract after this year in the SL. He's super talented and never should have left the NRL.

I like Martin, but he's probably another project player... and I think he's more of a 2nd rower rather than prop/lock (unless he has changed his role since going to ESL).

He could probably get away with being lock in the current game, but it's an unknown and would therefore be a risk on a guy that we would be paying starting 13 money for.

We need known commodities... we know Jensen is depth, we know Pereira is depth, we know Capewell is 80min 2nd rower, Reynolds a starting halfback, etc.

Is Rhyse going to be plugged into 2nd row (what happens to TC, Piakura, etc.) ... can he play middle?? Does he suit the current game?? Does he want marquee money??

Too many unknowns for my liking

Hoy and Flanagan are both terrible. Hoy is honestly the knights’ version of Maranta. Actually irritates me even watching him play.

I think he's more than a project player. He is good enough to play origin for Queensland, is my opinion.

He could play lock or second row for us.. Which would be solid..
