Hi everyone,

Some rumours going round that Tyson Gamble is being looked at by Hull FC in SL.

Has anyone heard anything?

Not sure if there is too much in it. We've signed Tex Hoy from the Knights for next season, but last week we were linked with Gamble and Brandon Wakeham...
It wouldn't surprise me, Gamble doesn't really have a place in our top 17 but he's in that category of probably good enough for first grade. He's a player who plays his heart out every game, I think you'll like the signing if it eventuates.

Tyson has another year on his contract, so I don't think that's true. But it would be understandable if he wants to ask for a release. They should go after Albert Kelly instead, though. He's off contract.

I definitely do not have an issue with Riki in our side. His attack is near non existent but I appreciate his role in defence especially considering it wasn’t much chop before this season. However I really don’t think we have 1 or 2 years to give him.

Apart from gradual development from players there has to be an area that this team significantly improves in to be able to match it with top teams next year and years to come. Personally I believe that’s fullback (which we have done) and possibly Robati on the right edge cause I think he can be massive in the NRL and proved it twice with his two opportunities in the second row. On top of that hopefully some more consistent form with Staggs next year and we can be a massive force.

Not ruling Riki out yet and whilst I really do like him it’s one of those situations where you are almost better off shopping him off to somewhere where he can start than wasting him in reserves. I don’t know, I sure as shit am not as critical on him as others and I definitely see both sides of the spectrum. If we didn’t have anyone better I wouldn’t hesitate he does the job and is a great role player and I appreciate role players. But I think you can’t have an ineffective back rower offensively on such an important edge because it makes everything so predictable in offence that it is going out to Staggs and Cobbo. Imagine if it’s Robati on that edge and every time he takes a run he bumps one off or he makes a slight break, or 3 blokes have to commit to him to get him down all of a sudden you got numbers properly committing to Robati and then Staggs and Cobbo got space, time and the speed to take advantage of Reynolds and Robati’s workings on their inside.

I thought Reynolds was gonna be the key to unlocking Riki in attack .
Hasn`t panned out the way I visualised it . K Nick used to throw some nice little passes on that edge . I thought Reynolds would do similar .

But ,,, I think Riki had sore ribs for a while . Optimistically he is about to come out of his shell and start running some inside shoulder lines .

He’s also much older, in worse shape physically, and apparently unable to behave himself off field even at this point in his career.

He’s going to need to aim up soon because he appears to have a couple of very handy replacements breathing down his neck. He’s not doing a lot wrong but our Edge stocks coming through look really strong.

My stance on Fifita is very much based around the figure they're prepared to pay him, he's a genuine match winner and can do some freakish things but he won't do it consistently and isn't likely to do it in a tight game being played between the 20 metre lines.
His value is probably somewhere around the Kotoni Staggs mark. If you picked him up around the $750k range he’s got a lot of upside potential in him and probably justifies the cost.

There's rumours that Hunt wants to come back to QLD.

If he wants to return, I hope the Broncos are on the phone to him seeing if he wants to come back to the club and play hooker.

He would no doubt have to take a pay cut to return no matter where he goes in QLD.

I’d love to have him back at hooker. Give him 50 something minutes with Paix off the bench for the next two years until Mozer is ready and we will be set

1 Reece Walsh
6 Ezra Mam
7 Adam Reynolds
9 Ben Hunt
14 Cory Paix

With these blokes filling spots when needed
1 Tesi Niu
6 Tyson Gamble
7 I don’t know off the top of my head
9 Billy Walters
14 Blake Mozer

Sounds like his management have identified the perfect time for him to be negotiating with other clubs, after he has sealed an origin series win.

that rumour has come from Badel clickbait article. sounds like he wants to stay at the Dragons, but if that falls through (or Hook gets fired) he would consider his options.

Ben Hunt says:

“It’s all in limbo at the moment, the club has said that in the next couple of weeks they will offer me some sort of deal to get the ball rolling,” Hunt said.

“At the moment I’m waiting to see how things go. There’s no real need for me to rush. I’ll wait and see what they come up with.

“I can definitely see myself finishing there (Dragons). I am enjoying myself at the club. I’m really enjoying being coached by Hook (Anthony Griffin) and there’s a good bunch of fellas there. The club is heading in the right direction. We’ll have to wait and see.

“I’d look anywhere, but at the moment I’m happy where I am. The priority is to get the Dragons to keep building.

“I’ve been extremely lucky throughout my career. I’ve missed a couple of games here and there but I’ve never had any real major injuries or setbacks.

“I think I’ve got a few more years left in me. My body is feeling well and I’m enjoying my footy so why not?”

If he comes back to Qld, there is no way the Dolphins won't throw double what we could offer at him to get him. He is exactly what they need and missing out on him would be huge.

If he was willing to play 9 for us though and was willing to take a hefty paycut for one final season or three at a premiership, you wouldn't get a contract in front of him fast enough.

1. Walsh
6. Mam
7. Reynolds
9. Hunt
14. Paix

Engrave the trophy now.

I can absolutely see the Dolphins throwing the kitchen sink at Hunt. It would be real desperation time for them now. They might even give Haas the money he is wanting.

At 33/34, could hunt handle transitioning to hooker at nrl level and playing in the middle every week as opposed to 50-60 minutes three times a year? Would his signing cost us Mozer or Paix?

I feel like he’s not worth the risk for the price he’ll be demanding.
