I still reckon something has to give with our backline. Surely no point keeping Isaako if he isn’t in the plans.

And that is fine but it is only your books. In the club's eyes, if he was a best 17 player, he would have been signed before James. This is why it is good to try and avoid personal views as definitive statements.
Every opinion every single person has on here is a personal view and not a definitive statement.

I believe Jensen was signed before James, so we can assume with your logic he will be used ahead of James? And if we sign a big name late, I assume with this same logic they will be in reserve grade next year? Nothing to do with their ability, it's all about in what order the club signs them.

It’s your opinion and you are masquerading as though it’s a foregone conclusion - that’s a definitive statement. Preluding with I think / wouldn’t be surprised if makes it a non-definitive statement.

Also, I think Dunamis would be fighting it out with Jensen at first or second prop in if needed. Additionally, I thought it was self-explanatory but maybe it wasn’t in that Lui and James were at the same club and both being an old head to the team, the Broncos chose to chase James, not Lui.

Also, I want to sign Lui, I’d love to have him as depth.

If I say "Lui is better than James" its clearly stating what I think, as this talking about a subject that can't be proven as absolute fact. If you can't see the difference between someone stating an opinion on a player, than an actual definitive factual statement, that's on you.

True but I wouldn't say Isaako is quality depth for the money he is on. We could easily replace him with an equally rocks-and-diamonds state league player for 1/3 of the price.
The only argument id have for keeping Isaako is the club needs to start actually honouring contracts or their reputation is at risk in the eyes of players they actually do want.

I completely agree with moving on Lodge, Croft, and TPJ but at some stage we need to accept the bad deals too and show that we stick by players that we sign up.

Players don’t want to go to or stay at a club where >50% of players don’t see out their contracts.

I might try and make a list later but how many players have we seen not reach the end of their contracts here since 2018.

I suppose its more the ones we pushed out of the door that could be the issue.

As a blanket approach moving forward, this is a very valid point, but in Isaako’s case specifically, the club has stood by him through a lot I think.

I believe the club is now starting to demonstrate, from the top down, that if you don’t deliver on what you’re employed to do, there’s the door. I don’t mind that. We don’t want to be a destination for players who want to coast along (Milford) or become a final destination for retiring players looking for one final windfall (quite a few during the 2010’s).

I guess what I am saying (which I think you are too) is we don’t want to be pushovers, but we equally don’t want to be so ruthless that no one is game enough to sign with the club.

Cheese news: the gang reckons the Dolphins are bidding "upwards of" $850,000-a-season and the Titans $2.4 million over 3 years. For those not mathematically inclined, the Dolphins are potentially offering more, and sound like they want to win. Ditto the Titans. Best we stand back and watch.

Personally I'd just say to Isaako if you find another club willing to take you on, go for it. If you don't, we'll honour your contract.

I don't really have an issue with letting players go if we don't think it's going to work out for them or us, it serves us no purpose to keep someone we don't want. If we do want them though, then just do as Melbourne does and make clubs play full freight instead of offering discounts (or just tell them to **** off and try again when he is out of contract).

Any reason we aren’t going for B.smith? Thought we were good for $ in 2023, and a decent 9 should be high on the agenda one would have thought.

Well we have a salary cap to manage and cant justify the asking price. On the other hand, the dolphins have a full cap to spend so money isn't a big option for them at the moment and the Titans seem determined to spend their entire cap on 5 players.

Maybe his nose candy habit can be brushed under the rug. Getting caught so easily suggests a brain that is not exactly sound.

Potentially because we might have a Harry Grant situation on our hands with Blake Mozer coming through. Jake only has a year left on his contract, but Cory, who many are tipping to supplant him has two. Maybe they'd like to see how Blake goes in the ISC before locking down a wad of cash.

Who knows.

However, I sincerely hope it’s because the club simply doesn’t want anything to do with him and his crazy block of cheese antics.
