As always the devil is in the detail. Was he released or did he ask to be. If he's a Qlder, maybe he wanted to go home for family reasons.
They literally have 4 middles next year. So I really doubt they would have been desperately trying to get rid of Schonig.

**I know you didn’t say this but for the person who said Pene was ahead of him, I’m pretty sure Schonig was injured most of the season**

I know we have a lot of middles but Darryn Schonig has been released by the Storm without any deal elsewhere it seems. I have always really liked him and he is a qlder.

anyone have thoughts on this?
He is average, and we have enough forwards. We had too many middles to keep Bullemor, would be pointless signing Schonig. Unless Storm wanna take Kennedy, then I'd be fine with it.

Hass, carrigan, hetherington, flegler, james, Jensen, palasia, kennedy, willison, robati (when required). That is pretty good depth and I am likely missing some on train and trials or development deals.

There's been a lot of speculation about Schonig over on the Storm forum. Schonig did suffer a serious knee injury that kept him from playing this season but the club removed his profile from their website and in places where he should have been mentioned he was omitted. A poster claims that he 'mucked up' and it's being 'kept in house' but I'm not entirely sure of their credibility.

I just thought I'd pass that on. It could be nothing but he was one of the bigger mysteries over on their forum.

Hasn't he been released? why would we need to give Melbourne anything?

Going to be a good battle for the 1 Jersey over pre season Cobbo had a great game today for Wynnum.
It's hard to contain my optimism when discussing Cobbo. With a bit of luck and some hard work he may become a great. If he can avoid the pitfalls of success and the 'my shit doesn't stink' arrogance of a Mundane he looks almost certain to have a stellar career.

So far (yes I know things can change), he has been level headed and humble, he knows he is good but he doesn't flaunt it. I hope he stays that way.

So far what I've seen of him off the field through the interviews he has done etc (which is very little) he seems to come across humble and everything you would want from him, though only very early days get him around some good mentors that are around the club and he'll be right.
The squad that's building and the loss of certain players with the big egos will help young blokes like Selwyn aswell.

Cobbo looks very strong through the hips, which is great to see, but otherwise I was a little unimpressed to be honest. Still plenty of growth left in him.

Not a fan of his ability to tackle really well, shrug off tackles, take intercepts, be safe under the high ball, throw nice offloads and be devastating in broken field? Hard marker.

I'm excited about Cobbo as a prospect. i just don't see an NRL fullback in him.

i'd love to turn him into a strike centre to partner Staggs. IMO he could be really damaging in the position

I do think hes a better NRL centre than NRL fullback at the moment.
Only problem though is will one centre be starved of the ball abit if you've got Staggs at the other centre.
Whoever Kev chooses for the fullback Jersey round 1 hes got to stick with all year to get some good combinations happening.
