He asked for a release didn't he?
I think so but even in those situations, sometimes a club still pays some if the new deal is below what he was already on?

Starting backrower at Penrith, wins the premiership with them.Capewell is fine ??
In what parallel universe ? Missed tackles and no tries / assist in back half of the season . His spot is up for grabs if he doesn`t improve dramatically .

Selected for Qld origin, multiple years in a row.
We poached him and had a fine season, until he busted his shoulder, yet played on as he could.
If that doesn’t meet the definition of ‘fine’ well, that‘s some tough standard…
But he isn’t the problem in our back row. Riki appears to be. The club put it’s faith in him when Fifita left, didn’t go to market to find a quality right back-rower, and apart from one or two moments here or there, he has continually failed to deliver.
Yeah this has been a massive issue of Riki’s. He doesn’t run great lines either and lacks any real impact. He has a lot of athletic ability, I wonder if they should bulked him up and kept him in the middle, or even transitioned him into a centre. Either way I think he’s one of the biggest holes in our current team.Riki gets a bit lazy at times and gives up on the play thinking it's past him, then they come back in on the angle where he would be defending and he's not there or at least not in a position to make the tackle
Capewell is exactly what we need, no he's not as brilliant as some of the other backrowers the club has had but you can't fault his work ethic and being there on every play, we get 17 guys doing that we will be in a good position
haha, read this as Glen 20 and thought what an amazing put down it was to call someone an air freshener. Then I saw the decimal:)Riki currently is Glenn 2.0
How much is he on?Riki will come good, he's got upside.
He hasn't been playing Rugby League for that long, he's still very much in the learning phase. As he learns more, he'll develop more.
He's very much a long term project and he's not expensive. He's worth keeping around.

Kurt started the season great, and always kills it for QLD, but anyone startled by his 2022 missed tackles hasn't been following his career.Starting backrower at Penrith, wins the premiership with them.

That’s very reasonable if true .I think I remember reading reports at the time he re-signed of around 350k but I might not be remembering correctly.

Late season form would not get him picked for Penrith or Qld . Lucky to be in the starting team TBH .
Who would you pick instead of him?
Whether you like it or not, he's going to be in our side as long as he is fit, we don't have a plethora of quality edge forwards coming through the ranks. He has experience and a high work rate.
That`s one in 7 tackles he will miss . So in a game where he is forced to make 40 + he will miss 6 ! That creates a lot of pressure on the players around him .Kurt started the season great, and always kills it for QLD, but anyone startled by his 2022 missed tackles hasn't been following his career.
For example:
Sharks 2019: 25 games, 48% wins, 502 tackles, 79 missed
Broncos 2022: 19 games, 47% wins, 523 tackles, 79 missed
