Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2023

I hope we are not releasing Palasia unless we have someone else lined up as depth. I'm really concerned going into this season about our forward depth, way too many kids. The depth chart has a bit of a 2020/21 feel all over again and those years did not end well. Given we always seem to have injuries, this is concerning.

Taupau replacing Palasia is good enough for me.

Yeah like a few others here I’ve been throwing out Marty as a signing suggestion for an experienced forward for a while.

but, again, like others have said, he is a shadow of his former self. At the right price on a one year deal he’s be a good replacement for Ryan James.

He’s also a good bloke by all accounts which we need more of.

Des torpedoed Taupau's career with dropping him to the bench and limiting his minutes. I don't really blame Taupau. He's still got a great work rate and provides impact with his runs. Also yep, he seems like a good leader who works hard and will lead by example.

That doesn’t explain why his defensive efforts have been revolting. Regardless I’m glad to have him, if for no other reason than I was a fan of his in his prime.

I'm not sure what efforts you are referring to.. but it could be because he's been unhappy in his role at Manly

All his efforts. He was struggling in 2021 and outright shocking last year.

He’s 33 in 2 weeks - I don’t think his massive drop of form is anything unusual. He’s just a big bodied prop who’s played NRL for like 13 seasons. He’s cooked.

He will be good for the club though as long as he is only depth and injury cover like Ryan James.

He isn’t an upgrade on Palasia (for those saying he’s gone early). At least not on the field.
