Ikin and Bennett are best friends again guys….very convenient situation for Wayne too btw to patch things up just as he starts needing us to help the dolphins. We won’t be blocking him from joining Redcliffe.
LOL. Way to miss the point. But point taken. Bias noted.
You do your weakest player now. I named 3 of the 5. You have 2 left.
I love a good Wayne snipe as much as the next bloke, but the falling out between Bennett and Ikin was never in Bennett’s control.Ikin and Bennett are best friends again guys….very convenient situation for Wayne too btw to patch things up just as he starts needing us to help the dolphins. I think Kodi is a very decent 14. That's what we really need. We're stuck with our 9, and we have another in the wings when the heavens finally part.If they had a decent 9, that’s who I’d be going for. But they don’t, so let’s propose their most dangerous player instead.
It's hilarious how triggered you got from a throwaway remark that was only meant to highlight how strong our 5 are. You have proved my point precisely. It is very straightforward mate:
Our best backs based on consistency / performance: over the last 12-18 months:
1. Farnworth
2. Oates
3. Cobbo
4. Staggs
5. Walsh
The bottom three you can place them however you like and Walsh is at 5 because he hasn't been here, he starts from the bottom. Regardless, Herbie is AT WORST in second place even if you have Corey love and that's fine by me. Staggs may be our marquee man in terms of salary but at present, that's it and we all know what he can do on his day but when was his last 'day'?
We don’t need a reason, he is contracted to us. All we have to say is ‘no’.I've got it all along, and i've been saying that previously, but as i said, if we say he can leave, we need a reason not to let him go to a particular club.
I'm still of the opinion we cant prove any club has tapped him up because we would have done it by now if we could, same as if he could prove his little story about us he would have. So from a Broncos point of view, we either have to release him and get the fee we want regardless of who it is, or we keep him.
But his release is conditional. I’m so confused by your argument tbhI'm not wrong because i'm talking about if he gets granted a release. He cant use it to break a contract. At the end of the day we are a business as well as a football club. Hypothetically, If we make it clear we value Karl at $500k, or $750k and the only club that meets that valuation is the Dolphins, we arent going to turn down that kind of money for a player who seems very adamant he wont even play for us no matter what.
That’s a lot of words when you could’ve just said “your agenda”I'm outraged and literally trembling at your bias. How dare you pick one of our marquee signings. This is the sort of stuff that makes it so hard to take you seriously when talking about your pet peeves. I'll be sending you my therapy bill.
Still, at least you didn't pick our top try scorer of 2022.
Kodi is a great 14, even (or especially) when he was with us.I think Kodi is a very decent 14. That's what we really need. We're stuck with our 9, and we have another in the wings when the heavens finally part.
I dont see whats confusing but maybe its my explanation of my point. But his release is conditional. I’m so confused by your argument tbh
i mean it is up to us if we want to release him right? if he has a contract ready to go with the dolphins just say to him 'hey karl while ever you are contracted to the broncos we wont be releasing you to sign with the dolphins'I dont see whats confusing but maybe its my explanation of my point.
If we say he can have a release, and as i said, this is me speaking purely from speaking to a person who deals with this sort of thing on a corporate level but i think the bacics of it would be the same, we need a valid reason to restrict him from signing with the Dolphins if we are willing to let him go. If he can sign with any other NRL club but the Dolphins then i gather we need to justify why or thats where a legal challenge could come into play. Just us saying we think he has been tapped up wont be enough. Considering we have release Niu and Lee to join them, i think we would struggle to have a valid reason unless we have something on them we dont know about.
As i keep saying though, easiest way for us to stop him going there is to just not release him at all to anyone. I couldnt care less where he goes tbh. If we are looking to improve culture here, i still believe we dont need players like him and Payne who will throw their toys out the pram when they cant get their own way. Let the Dogs or the Phins have a player who is going to act like a toddler when he cant get his own way.
Would probably stop the speculation if DD just put a statement out so at least we know where we stand as a club with this.
the money is of little help unless it translates to cap space

Herbie BTW, only played half the season. No need to be so protective just because you want to root him.
Are you sure? I thought Bennett's missus came out and said the story was a load of shit? From memory she was pretty strong that things weren't sorted between them.Ikin and Bennett are best friends again guys….very convenient situation for Wayne too btw to patch things up just as he starts needing us to help the dolphins. I do have to wonder if they set 500k price tag is a bit of a PR stunt to say, "Look, we're prepared to compromise, you just pay us back for the money we spent developing him"
even proven quality NRL players don't generally cost a transfer fee of 500k
no we don't. all we have to do is reject the Phins offer. and if you want precedent, i have two word for you ... Gordon Tallis
Now, if we WANTED to give the Phins a reason for rejecting their offer it wouldn't be hard to come up with a legitimate one. e.g.
- We don't like the way you have approached and attempted to entice some of contracted players to break their contracts with us
- You're a cross town rival who we're competing for sponsorship dollars etc, we're not going to help you out
Its not the same as Gordy though. He wanted to come and play for the Broncos and made the choice to sit out until he could come here. If Karl wants to do that then let him.
The rival thing probably wouldnt work because technically every club in the comp is a rival and we have already let them have 2 players anyway. In some ways i am probably over complicating things, but i'm just talking hypothetically if Karl is deadset on joining the Dolphins ( and we dont know if he is tbh ) and we do say he can go to another club, he could have a good case if he wants to chase it. Of course, all we have to do is either refuse his release to anyone and he's stuck here.
Anyway, i'll give this a rest now, i think i've said what i want to, i think i'm going around in circles
