Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2023

If we use chicken sandwich kid but get a transfer fee AND re-sign Herbie (albeit in salary cap terms not related), we will have done well out of this idiot and still come off looking the good guys.

Keeping Herbie would basically make 99.9% of fans over the moon. The 0.1% is a margin of error to allow for morons.

Best in the comp is a big call.
Yep, and sticking to it. Individually, I don't think any are the literal best in comp. But collectively, especially including our depth, we're unrivalled. That's 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 I'm talking about.

Love the bloke, but our outside back stocks are already the best in the comp. And no, he's not giving us Milf, Jamayne, Brenko, Sean O or Tesi back. I'd take Kodi Nikorima, though. Now there's a good trade.
Think youre right about not wanting any of their backs given our list, also think hammer is over rated. I seriously struggle to think of who I'd be doing somersaults for if we got from them but I'd have JMK over nikorima for sure, maybe jesse Bromwich or f kaufusi to lead the pack for a year but that's a short term benefit for us.
Probably tom Gilbert or that 19 year old halfback they rave about would be my picks though. Don't see those happening...

I've always been a Kodi Nikorima fan. I think he'd be great off our bench - exactly what we lack at 14. The irony being he's back playing the position he didn't want to play at the Broncos, under the same coach who played him there. Unless he's gone downhill in the last year or two. In which case...

With respect to the chicken sandwich man-child, we are not a club short of $$$, so the transfer fee doesn't really benefit us (aside from it being used as way to control the transfer) but what we need is a player that benefits our list. Without making this a whole Billy thing, I'd say we need a 9. So, you can have the sandwich kid if you can give us a quality up and coming 9. Otherwise, no deal. Pure and simple.

We have already identified our up and coming 9 though.

Given what we’ve, wouldn’t he be excess to us?
I suggested Hammer for a few reasons:

- he’s their best outside back;
- he has something we don’t have, pure speed;
- the Dolphins won’t go for it, so Karl can sit in his thumb and rotate.

Herbie, Selwyn and Ezra are pretty quick. Two of those are top 5 in the NRL fairly regularly.
They are, but blokes like JAC, Saab and Hammer are quicker.

They have that raw speed that allows them to only run as fast as they have to to outrun their opponent.

Hammer's probably as close as Wayne got to a marquee signing. He's not going anywhere.

But for fantasy football's sake, we really don't want him. For starters, if we're to put any value on loyalty, we have no reason to demote or offload any of our players we have in his positions. I'm scratching my head to think of who would be the weakest out there, but probably Herbie, maybe Reece, or Selwyn on a bad day. See what I mean? We have great backs, and all, even Oates are on upward trajectories. Hammer might be faster than all those names, but collectively we're in a great place.

The rest of our spine is fragile, though. Anyone's guess what it's going to look like mid-season.
