McHunt doesn't care who the next hooker is, it could be the bloke delivering the sunday mail every weekend, it wouldn't matter.
Anyone but Billy, it's as simple as it gets for him. He's got an agenda against Billy because he's the coaches son, it eats him alive too that he's one of the better options we have in the spine.

I doubt it as well. Extended his contract and is loving it over there. I like him as a player, but his form is so up and down its not funny. Couldnt see him coming here and taking a paycut and playing on a low contract. He wouldnt be worth what he would want.

This is such a dud take.
I can’t believe I’m defending McHunt but he will be happy with any hooker that is better than Billy and so he should be. Billy isn’t even a hooker and he’s Q Cup standard at best in his actual position. Where does Billy rank in NRL hookers? 20-30th?
it eats me alive too that he’s one of the better options we have in the spine because that is disgusting. I don’t care if he’s the coaches son or not. Imagine the storm finding themselves in a position where Billy Walters was one of their better spine options, or the roosters, or the Panthers, or the basically most teams that are in the top 8 conversations.

I think the only reason Billy was in the side is that he could handle the opening stages of a game better than Paix but still provide more out of dummy half than Turpin, so got selected over Turpin until Kevvie decided to punish Paix for some reason.
Paix was better at the back end of halves when the players were tiring. Most of our points were scored when he was on, but I don't think we score as many if he was starting.
It's important the club find a hooker, but I get the feeling Billy/Paix is going to be our combo until Mozer is ready.

We lost Dearden because he wasn't ready for what we needed him for, as for billy's playtime, outside of being a 6(I would of picked Gamble to start the season based off what he did the year before regardless of trial form) I don't disagree any of his selections there, he was better then Turpin so what is your issue there?
We do need to sign a hooker though, but even still I can see him being in a battle with Paix for the bench position unless he kicks on from what he showed earlier.

I reckon we could consider just putting more faith into Paix..
The only issue with Paix is his lack of experience as a starting 9 in NRL.. There’s only one way to fix that! Start him at 9 and give him decent mins.

If we lose Riki and get out unscathed then we win. I’d rather make room for Piakura or Robati. Wish we could have held onto Hosking. Maybe Dragons can take Riki’s contract off our hands.. They love a good broncos reject. I didn’t know that Riki being horrible was a controversial take.

Because he wasn't horrible.
He's 22 yes old played 45 games has a 92 % tackle effeciency and plays nearly the whole game every week.
Just when he's getting to the stage of having decent experience people want to toss him away.
Have a look at the year Hudson Young has had.
He is 24 played 72 games and is coming into his own only now.
Our young guys need time it's that simple and we can't keep starting again just when we get these guys first grade ready.

Completely agree regarding Paix. Would be good to have a decent hooker to partner him though

That’s a valid reason to not like him being in the team because it’s not based on him being the coach’s son. Which the complete opposite of why McHunt doesn’t want him in the team.
