We literally lost Dearden the year prior, I can see any coach in the same situation not willing to throw in a Young half right away, the fact is he got alot more game time then I think anyone was expecting this year so your point is invalid.

because the last player he had an agenda against (Herbie) made him look foolish. he needed a new target

We didn't lose Dearden. We fucked him around and got rid of him.

I mention Billy because he played every game this season, in the spine, despite being barely first grade standard. Our attack has relied on him EVERY game. And it's been shit.

We need to upgrade the squad so that never happens again. This is the thread where we talk about upgrading the squad.

Mamm wasn't ready for first grade in round 1. Walters made the correct decision to start Kelly and Gamble in the halves.
The stint in Q cup did him the world of good. Plus, he fizzed out majorly at the back end of the year which is pretty natural for a rookie half so him starting later in the season actually helped his progression alot more than throwing him straight into the deep end immediately.

The only reason you think he wasn't ready is he wasn't picked. Billy was picked in the halves though, and we still lost.
