Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2023

Offer Haas and Flegler’s money (plus a bit extra perhaps) to Tino and Fifi and see if they take it. If the do, then flick Haas.

Haas is the best prop in the comp, but there’s no point waiting for him to **** us over when the best options to replace him are available right now. Sitting on our offer for months is basically playing Russian roulette with the club’s future.

It’s not that hard to say we want this- can you do it?
I believe it's been done already to a point. I'm fairly confident we have put a good offer in front of him from what I got told. If he's looking for Union money playing NRL, he is dreaming.

As I keep saying though, he knows what the Broncos offer is, he knows what others starting points are so he clearly imo has better offers elsewhere. I'm not bothered if his decision is a financial one, mine would be as well. Him and his team just deal with things so badly and come out with such rubbish it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

We need a massive game from Reyno and the makeshift forward pack to pull this one off at the moment.

Soo many outs for us and a lot of things in their favour.

Any sort of win will do for me... I dont care how damn ugly it gets... just need to limp over the line with the cavalry coming back next week (Haas, Patty, Walsh, etc.)
I don't actually think it's legally possible for us to lose to the doggies.

I genuinely wonder what happens if we table an offer to Tino seeing as Haas hasn’t accepted his extension. It would be in the best interest of the club however, I don’t see Tino leaving the tits and I think it would get Payne offside, even though he’s made his decision to hit the market.
If we are unable to land either Tino or Haas, it would be a PR nightmare.

If he stays then it will likely be for reasonable money, if he goes then it’s likely because someone overpaid.

Happy with either outcome, but just hope the club shows some backbone this time and handles it much better than the Fifita situation.

I can deal with Payne moving on for ridiculous money, but him moving on after publicly stringing us along endlessly and creating a distraction will really annoy me.

Haas’ agent Ahmad Merhi is in contract talks with Donuts today:

“Payne actually got an offer from an NFL club. They called me in March. They felt Payne had the size and dimensions to make it, but their roles seem pretty structured to me. The NFL team was genuine about taking him overseas to a camp. They wanted Payne to go to a testing camp outside the US where they bring in different athletes from sports around the world. The NFL team made the offer but I said what if Payne doesn’t even pass the camp or would that team really take a chance on him, we can’t take that risk."

“The NFL have scouts around the world and they thought Payne had potential, but Payne shut it down pretty quickly, so it shows this is not just about the money for him.”

“My gut feeling is he will stay at the Broncos."
"I don’t see that Payne has an issue with the club, but the crux of the problem in the first place was Payne feeling his deal wasn’t fair, or reflective of his performances. He loves ‘Kevvie’ and he loves the Brisbane Broncos, he loves their fans and everything about the club. We have built a pretty good relationship with the Broncos over the last three months and the people that run the show there."
“We’ve had interest from all 16 clubs, we’ve sent out an email letting the clubs know of our off-contract clients and they have all come back about Payne Haas. I honestly believe it will be very hard to get him out of there, but he just wants to tick that last box around his value. We just want transparency on his true value and Payne employs me, so he will make the final decision."
“I am being totally transparent with the Broncos and his full commitment is to Brisbane until the end of the season. He hasn’t had the chance to test his value, so we want to make sure his deal is fair on the open market and if it is, he will never complain in the future.”
“I have had interest from an international rugby outfit and their offer was huge. Payne wants to play premiership football, so it’s very easy to work out the top four sides in the comp. Last year when he looked at a release, the Broncos weren’t a finals team, but now they are a serious contender. We can’t entertain every team, but Payne is competitive and he wants to be in a successful team, which Brisbane are at the moment. I know several big clubs are keen, everyone has to look at their rosters, but Payne is happy at the Broncos and he likes playing under Kevin Walters, who is a total gentleman."
“If I get an offer from the Broncos I can’t refuse, then we would definitely sign before November 1, but right now it’s in his best interests to wait until November 1. For the moment, Payne is committed to Brisbane … his heart and soul is with them.”

Has he signed yet. 🤣😆

Go for Mo.

Yep.

We can't be idol until Haas decides, we have to try get a replacement ASAP.

Double-D needs to get his testicles out and make good on his rep.

Sit Haas, Tino and Carrigan in a room. Get Carrigan to explain why he stayed for less and that he believes the Broncos can win the comp, but not with mercenaries. The Broncos want both Haas and Tino, but only for $700k each. The plan is to win the premiership, and when that is done, they can bask in the glory and move on to guaranteed massive contracts wherever they want.

Brent Reed saying 8 props in NRL are on more money than Haas.
Seems logical he wants to catch up.
Understandable yes but if his goal is to win a premiership, that's generally not conducive with being the highest paid in your position.

Any Tino offer won't be contingent on what Haas does.

Tino is either available for 2024 or 2026. Haas isn't of contract until the end of 2025

He's much better than everyone on that list.

Props making more than Haas are: Addin Fonua-Blake, James Fisher-Harris, Junior Paulo, Joey Tapine, Jake Trbojevic, Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, Nelson Asofa-Solomona and David Klemmer
