I had you both on ignore - you because you're so angry, and the other guy because he complains too much about shit he doesn't understand - but took it off because you were still replying to my threads.@McHunt and @Foordy I think I speak for at least most when I say this is beyond tiresome. Take this bickering to DM’s or cut it out entirely, just keep it out of threads. You obviously don’t like each other so just use the ignore feature.
Tell us more about Crawley's bosses and their "agenda." And how Herbie Farnworth got roped into it. This is some fruity stuff.FTR, the article isn't labelled as "Opinion" or "Editorial" because Crawley and his bosses want this BS to be viewed as fact, not opinion. not to mention that an author using themselves as a source, takes away any credibility these guys claim to have.
Of course Farnworth is pissed off. If you disagree, that's your entitled opinion, but it goes against everything we know. Here's a potted timeline off the top of my head. Apologies if some is out of order:
1. Herbie is dithering over re-extending. He says he wants to see what happens during the season before committing. It seems to be a comment on where the team is headed under the new coach, but also backing himself to improve his value. He doesn't sound completely happy, but he's keeping his cards close.
2. Received wisdom is Herbie is unhappy at left centre, because he favours the right. This might explain him not passing to Oates as often as you might expect.
3. Rumours circulate Bennett is offering him the right centre position.
4. He eventually commits to another year - notably shorter than the club had offered - and fronts a press conference declaring he wants to play fullback, and the club has agreed to trial him there in the off season. He makes the declaration as if the spot is vacant. At the time, the club has enjoyed a surge of wins coinciding with the injured incumbent (Tesi Niu) being replaced by Te Maire Martin. Herbie didn't acknowledge either, and seemed taken aback and shrugged off questions about Selwyn Cobbo.
5. Most observers connected Herbie's short extension with his shot at fullback, and interpreted it as "give me fullback or I leave next season." Presumed, but unsaid.
6. The club heralds the return of Walsh to much fanfare. As Walsh only plays fullback, overtures by the club the position is not guaranteed to him ring hollow.
7. Herbie fronts another press conference with a stiff upper lip - I think this time injured - and declares Walsh's signing doesn't phase him and the more competition the healthier. It's a dignified response, but not convincing.
8. If Herbie is not pissed off by this point, he's not human.
As for confusing Paul Crawley's weekly column with TEH FACTS, I can't help you there. It's boggles my mind that I would need to explain it.
Did you actually watch any of Herbie's press conferences, immediately after extending, and after Walsh was signed? Ask how you would feel in his situation, and start from there.Mate i think your calling is to be an assistant for a QC. Talk about circle jerking your own story and turning 3 leaf clovers into 4. This takes the cake in my book. I think you've reach the epitome of self grandeur.
Is there anyone on this board who thinks Herbie will be here in 2024? Everyone pretty much assumes he will be gone, and most think it will be to the Dolphins. They don't want him to go, but they've already penciled him in as gone.Let’s all disagree that Herbie would go somewhere else & agree that Crawley is a dumb snob.
I think he’ll stay but won’t be surprised if he doesn’tIs there anyone on this board who thinks Herbie will be here in 2024? Everyone pretty much assumes he will be gone, and most think it will be to the Dolphins. They don't want him to go, but they've already penciled him in as gone.
That's probably where I'm at as well: on the fence.I think he’ll stay but won’t be surprised if he doesn’t
That could be true but likely isn't. If you're unhappy you don't re-sign at all. That's probably where I'm at as well: on the fence.
If he were happy, he'd have signed for more than a year.
Yup, this exactly. By the time Herbie signed, we were doing great and we clearly were lacking @1 and not sure if TMM would hang around for long. I reckon Herbie signed a 1 year deal perhaps for reasons such as:That could be true but likely isn't. If you're unhappy you don't re-sign at all.
I think herbie wanting to play fullback is completely over estimated. I get the feeling it's more about being in a successful team. I also get the feeling that the 1 year extension was in regards to funds available and waiting to see if we can start making the finals again.
