Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2024

Piakura is a different type of ill disciplined to Kurt. He is more what Flegler used to with aggression whereas these days Tom and Kurt would always give away stupid penalties in the ruck that has never been Piakura’s issue, I also felt Piakura fixed that up big time last year.

Didn'r he get put on report three times in one game against the Storm or something late in the season?

The ridiculous thing is the Broncos have taken more Roosters than the Roosters have taken Broncos.
How far back are we going? Because the current equation is:

Lindsay Collins, Sam Walker, Xavier Va'a, De La Salle Va'a, Tyreece Tait, Lui Lee

vs.

Fletcher Baker, Ethan Quai-Ward (*), Ethan O'Neil (*), Cooper Page Wilson (*)

Who am I forgetting?

This doesn't include NRLW either because half the Roosters team are Broncos.

I was only counting First Grade, let's not be silly here. You can't count guys that never had an NRL contract.

Matterson, Tessman, Gillmeister, O'Sullivan, Hodges, Hannant, Tasi, Kennedy and Baker.

Vs

Hodges. Copely, Nikorima and Turpin.

Why can't you count them if they are in your development system?

Never heard of any of them. Did they play first grade?

I only remember former captain and club legend, Jake Turpin. Oh and Justin Hodges, but that one cuts both ways.

We can now reveal Billy is "set to" get a two year extension until end 2026:

Ballin:

“Billy has been fantastic. When I first came to this club, it was his first year, he had been playing a bit of five-eighth at Wests Tigers and a bit of hooker. But what I have seen is Billy has applied himself defensively. Hooker is a tough position, you are under fatigue the whole game. In the halves, you get a bit of a break, but he has worked hard defensively and he is quite crafty with the ball. The biggest thing I have noticed is when he defends, he just wants to make tackles, get up there and stop them getting to an edge and he works hard for each player around him. When Billy gets a chance to run the ball, he is quite skilful.”
“There’s great competition at hooker. Those guys have been really patient, Billy has had a couple of really good years playing hooker, Tyson got an opportunity last year and took it with both hands and stayed there as a bench back-up. Blake has had big wraps on him ever since he has come through which is a bit unfair, but that’s what happens with young kids these days. I don’t think it’s fair to compare Blake to Cam Smith, Cam is one of his idols and it’s a great thing for him to look up to Cameron, but at no stage has he said he is anywhere near as good as him. Now he has to go about his day to day business. It’s up to Blake where he goes from here, he now has to do the hard work.”

So the Titans made Payne?

If the Titans or Warriors made any claims on Haas development I would laugh at them.

Would you laugh at the Broncos including Collins? JNik?

Thanks for the clarification. I'm not sure if it's that one-sided, but there's a few names you could add and subtract from both clubs.

I'd imagine fans would be more interested in the current tally, and it's clearly in the favour of the Roosters.

I didn't include Collins, he was a very average U20's player that didn't play NRL and on reflection I can take off Nikorima too- I thought he played an NRL game at Brisbane but he didn't.

If you can sign a 16 year old like Sam and turn him into an NRL player then well done that's good development, the club that had him on school holidays at 15 can't complain and say they contributed anything.

The weirdest one was Matt Lodge. We paid a million dollars to **** him off to the Warriors mid season, who then paid $700k to **** him off to the Roosters. Now he's back with Seibold at Manly. Good luck auditing that bad luck charm.

The Queensland selectors and I must have had a higher opinion of him than you. Collins was a stand-out in a strong Broncos pack and his runs off the back fence used to be the impetus for Berrell to play out the back.

His biggest issue was trying to stay on the field. He missed the majority of 2016 and by the time he returned, he was off to Bondi.

It wasn't like the Broncos didn't want him, they offered him a contract but the Roosters made him a deal that was too good to refuse.

It worked out for him, but let's not pretend he was some no-name player that nobody saw anything in until the Roosters came along.

I am glad ballin mentioned billy's defence. I thought he was pretty impressive defensively and led the line speed in the middle.
