Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2025

Odds of Coby Black debuting next year are remarkably short.

Not that strange of an idea to be honest.

1. Walsh
6. Black
7. Reynolds
9. Mozer/Hunt (still not convinced we're a chance at getting him but anyway)

If we can get Reyno mentoring Black before he is done, I think the value of that outweighs the risk of dropping Black in too early. Dearden was dumped into first grade too early as well, and initially he struggled, but look at him now. Playing for the Kangaroos and hardly looking out of place.

Is there any news of Mam's drug test?
The second test shouldn't take this long.

Would’ve been, if not for A.Sims
Still too soon......

A thought that hit me lastnight is I wonder if R&R hasn't actually been as lazy/slow as they seem, but the Madge thing has been in the works for months (likely) and the decision was made by higher up to hold off until he could be a party to R&R decisions...? This would make more sense than literally not signing any of our off-contract blokes who we are highly likely to want to keep?

Just another pointer that perhaps the Madge deal HAS been decided for a while and the club as a whole has been holding its breath until that all was finalised.

I think you are 100% on the mark here. I wouldn't be concerned about Nov 1 coming up. Madge will keep/target who he thinks the team needs. If he senses any current player doesn't fit or is not willing to sacrifice dollars or change their ways, well then, bye bye.

Yes it should .
In the real world it can take weeks . In the JAC incident it was fast forwarded to have it express processed .

I'm not against Black making his debut next year, but IMO it should be the back end of the year unless he's kicking the door down (or we get fucked by injury again)

Ideally, I'd like him to get a full season of QLD cup under his belt.

In the event Mam is sacked or suspended, Madden or Rogers can do a job for us at 6 in the interim as long as Reynolds and Walsh are playing.

Players of note off contract as of next week below:

Broncos - Cobbo, Hetherington, Mozer, Reynolds, Staggs, Walsh, Willison
Bulldogs - Addo-Carr, Sexton
Cowboys - Chester, Clifford, Duffy, Robson
Dolphins - ...
Dragons - Allan, Hunt
Eels - Gutherson, Greig, Ofahengaue
Knights - Croker, Pearce-Paul, Lucas, Thompson
Panthers - Alamoti, Laurie, Luke, Riki, Schneider
Rabbits - Havili, Ilias, Munro
Raiders - Savage
Roosters - B.Smith, Walker
Sea Eagles - Bullemor, Cherry-Evans, Talau
Sharks - Atkinson, Hazelton, Mulitalo, Nikora, Trindall
Storm - Kamikamica, Loiero, Papenhuyzen, Pezet
Tigers - Seyfarth, Staines
Titans - T.Boyd, J.Fifita, Pahulu
Warriors - Harris, TMM, Tuaupiki

Highlighted are the ones I'd be most interested in.

The problem for me is, you look at that list, there isn't that much quality around (a symptom of the entire competition in reality), so clubs are going to come very hard for our guys.

I would have more faith in Jock than Rogers .
Jock probably had his best game for the Broncos playing #6 with Reynolds .

Rogers` defence needs a lot of work .

Yep. 2 different tests.

JAC’s was a roadside drug test. The secondary test for that is conducted on a station or van based Draegar drug testing instrument. The whole testing process including transporting to station is completed in tens of minutes depending on the drive.

Mam’s was a roadside drug test and then because he was reportedly hospitalised, a blood sample for scientific testing in a laboratory setting by Qld Health. That process is out of police control, the analysis is done by QHSS and takes whatever it takes. I have had certificates back in as little as 2 weeks for a pure alcohol test, other drug tests can take 5 weeks or longer because of the spread of substances they need to test for (and potentially the type of testing).

Depending on the results of said scientific testing, the investigators may require a medical opinion on the effects / quantity of any drugs detected in the system.

Additionally there are other investigations on-going with the other parties in the crash, forensic and mechanical examinations of the vehicles involved and so on.

Then depending on the specifics they may seek to interview Mam before taking any action or may commence proceedings straight away.

Every one of these jobs are different.

I Still think clifford has a lot of the skills we are looking for with reynolds replacement.

Big boot, more mature aged etc. Cowboys looked better with him in the team than Townsend.

Whats the latest on Walsh's contract? Last I heard there has only been a hand shake agreement. With November 1 looming are we thinking he might actually be testing the market?

Clifford is a threat running the ball .
Chadwick is not . Easier for the defence if the #7 isn`t a threat .

unless he wants to move away from his daughter, he'll stick around.

don't know the guy, but that's why he moved back from NZ. Redcliffe aren't going to sign him and nor are Titans as he's not a forward.
