Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2025

Next season? He isn't a free agent until November next year right? So Willison is only signed one season longer than Haas at this stage.

If we want him off the books, i cant see us standing in his way if something happens earlier. I just dont think we will want him gone.

Yeah, I can't see the Broncos releasing Haas early. There isn't any players on the market worth big coin that we'd be chasing.

We need Haas while we blood Coby Black as a 7. Let him play behind a monster pack.

The only logical reason is to probably use his money to sign maybe another Jensen type work horse and upgrade Te Kura, possibly also put some money towards Staggs or Cobbo.

Can you imagine the media beat up. Broncos release games best prop, what drugs are they on....

As long as our backline is unable to deliver big metres out of our end, we simply cannot afford to lose Haas. If he goes, it should only be when we have a big winger and a couple of good toiling props lined up to replace him. Who fits that bill that is off contract right now?

Unknown at this stage but the media were suggesting he could've got double what he was on with us originally by going elsewhere.

I would say 500-550k a year is probably close to the mark.
Which feels fine to me... that's a little more than what Kobe is reported to be on.

The concern from me was a desperate Sydney team throwing $700k-$800k at him and us having to up our offer to keep him.

Haven't seen this rumoured anywhere, but I have a feeling something is brewing with Payne Haas.

Available to negotiate with rivals, Broncos locking down his long-term replacement, Roosters freeing up more cap space, Broncos feeling a cap squeeze..

Wouldn't be shocked if Payne as the Roosters next season.
He's not a free agent until this time next year.

That is a ridiculous price tag ...

I get that he's been on over a million a year for a long time, but he is 35.

To compare we're getting Reynolds (who IMO is a much better half) for $500k next year. Both players are the same age as well.

That is the deal the Dragons were going to pay next year so makes it hard to argue that’s not his worth. If he signs for two years I think the second year will come down.

Haas is about to become a Dad again & his younger brothers now live with him.

Hasn't he just bought a new house near the Club.

Can't see him leaving.

From memory Cronk and Pearce were on the books at the same time. Pearce only left cause he would've been playing reserve grade.
The Roosters tried to play coy and pretend they could afford both of them, but they obviously couldn't and Pearce was quickly shipped out.

Even if you buy into the idea that clubs can't announce signings until they're under the cap, Cronk reportedly signed a $2 million over two years with the Roosters.

Can’t until next year but thanks for playing

I don't think Hunt is out of our price range. It's entirely possible that the club is dealing with the NRL and getting assurances that if, as suspected, Ezra ix getting a 12 game ban, we'll get cap allowances for what would be half a season. So straight up that's $400k we can use towards him. Somehow get Paix to go elsewhere, we have $750k to spend. That's a big if, but I don't think the club will die wondering.

The Hetherington manager comment about the tigers gave me an indication that something is going on and when Madge said Hetho is in his plans, what he meant was “my plans to make space in our cap for Ben Hunt”
