I seen that Madge has given Cobbo a talking to about its time for him to wake up and play to his potential. He is a broncos Gi if he just steps up, trains and really warms up to his achievable talent.

I hope he made it a simple talk. Like maybe a picture book of what can happen if you go to training and work hard. Maybe in crayons as well.

I have no idea how you came that conclusion.

For accuracy here is what Madge actually said about Cobbo

“His actions on the footy field will do the talking,” Maguire said.

“If Selwyn focuses on the training part, most of the contract stuff will sort itself out _ it always does.

“If he gets super fit, that will show his attitude anyway.

“I have been impressed with Selwyn in my few weeks here already.

“His application is there and I have really enjoyed his company already, we’ve had some good chats and he’s a good kid.

“He is a very talented young man and has some special qualities about him.

“He just has to play consistently and if he gets super fit he will do that.”

II would also like to see how Billy could go as a pure ball playing middle ala Salmon, Hayward, etc. at the dogs... his defence is strong enough to cut blokes in half. Being a pure ball player in the middle reduces pressure and decisions that he's making at dummy half (Salmon is just a link man), but means we'd have an actual half in the middle doing what Patty is currently doing and Patty could move to prop for stints through the game... or actually get a break off the field.

Like Turps does at the Bulldogs? Turps would be an upgrade in that tacklebot role.

Except a ball playing middle is different to a tackle bot at hooker.

They provide link play through the middle in attack whereas as a tacklebot hooker just feeds it out of dummy half... like Croker at Manly has been doing for like 10yr now.

Only Billy. Turps can tackle for more than 20 minutes without running out of puff.

Depends how high you rate Billy's ball playing. I don't rate it at all. But if we're barking up that tree, I'd prefer Smoothy, which Kevvie tried. Not with great success though.

I definitely agree there, Kamikaze Upton is an amazing player and Brisbane Broncos should definitely get her back to the club.

It was completely dependant on us getting salary cap relief on Mam but he is unlikely to have a full season off so it's basically not possible now.

Was he someone that Madge recruited at tigers and then when Madge got sacked he got the shits??

He's a good player, but not sure if he's the backrower we want though... his style of play looks to be based on going off the cuff rather than line running, etc. that can be fine when he's at the top of his game, but he's only going to be getting older and taking it into your own hands and trying too much becomes detrimental.

I think he is someone with versatility though and a genuine footy player... plays backrow, but was at lock for tigers. Also centres when he first came over... could fill the Capewell hole
