Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2025

I'd be having a chat with Madden and if he's in the future plans offer him a chance to go play in England for a year and come back.

And If I'm the guys off contract I'm getting together and talking, if we want to be winning the premiership next year our best chance is with Reynolds in the team so just for that year we need to take a little less.

I'm sure Reynolds will probably take a little less than what's he's on ATM
This fear mongering from the media only pops up when we are winning funnily enough...

Smoothy leaving, add in baker, hoeter, tapau and all on slight above minimum, with reynolds getting a 100,000 knocked off and you have 500,000 straight away after paying min wage replacements, with that you can pay for mozer and haas upgrades. Staggs, hethrington and cobbo will be on the same given they were over paid last contracts. Anderson would be a mid contract at most (400,000), that's where a deal like maddens might come in. Yes the above players need to be replaced by minimum wage, but that's where our development benefits us. Beni Allen, semu, jett bryce, maybe innes by the sounds of it, bukowski, most of them should be in a position to fill the back end of a squad by then with a year or 2 of qld cup under their belt. Maybe pack it up with 1 or 2 journey men.

Players like jensen might be someone we lose given he deserves a pay upgrade but isn't a priority. Israel leota might leave as he'd be expecting a pay upgrade given his age and physical "potential" but the club should not give it from what he's shown, however some other club will due to his physical potential. That's 6 potentially leaving, none of which would be on minimum wage.

Yeah we can definitely afford everyone we want to keep and if we're going good it will be easier to keep everyone together without massive upgrades.
Guys like Arthars, Riki, Walters and your Shibas and Jetskis are important to the roster and I think we have the right balance ATM.
Higher paid stars In the positions that will win us games and lower end in the more workhorse positions.

Well that would be an amazing pick up. Cobbo replacement?

Possibly, I hope not. Cobbo is a weapon and I feel like a number of fans underrate him sadly.

In terms of Anderson, who knows if he is signed or not. Apparently we've also re-signed Mozer and Staggs but nothing has been announced for any of them.

Didn't @1910 say he was making bank on crypto thanks to one of our sponsors/third parties?
Should be able to squeeze him onto a mid level contract with benefits.

Everyone's getting into the Act, regarding the Bronx cap.

Zane Bojack on ABC was talking about it to and he even pulled a number out of his ass saying that Reynolds was on $850k this year.

he wasn't even on that amount when he first came here and we certainly didn't give him a raise for this year

plus bloke in a bar's take:

I'm assuming it's become a hot topic on the back of knights stupid offer to Brown and Cherry saying he will be playing on and looking like he'll still be playing until he's 40.

Reynolds is a top half across the comp, is off contract and still playing elite football... so if he does play on then they'd be claiming he 'could' be a million dollar half still.

The issue with him getting that kind of price tag is that a) he's on nowhere near that at the moment b) by all reports he's very settled in Brisbane, including third party deals and a life after football already sorted c) he is picking up some soft tissue injuries these last 18 months now... he was an iron man up until basically last year, but a couple hammy issues last year and another hammy twinge this year... hammy injuries are no joke and you only have to look at Turbo.

Based on those injuries it's almost guaranteed that he ain't playing another 2yrs like Cherry is aiming to do, so if he goes around again next year it's a one and done... but I don't think he's heading anywhere that isn't a premiership chance and I don't think he's going to be out there Cherry style looking to maximise his salary

He's not on a major contract at the moment... I think he's down to basically $600k or lower at the moment... that's not the end of the world for us to retain him if he goes around again.

I've said in a different thread that Madden really needs to look for a new home... he's behind so many at broncos and then Coby Black is the next man up once Reynolds and Bhunt retire.

He's off contract end of next year, so at the moment he's behind Reynolds, Bhunt and Ezra, by 2027 when Bhunt and Reynolds are retired he's already off contract, but is potentially behind Coby and Ezra at that point.

Billy is also signed for next year and he can do a job at 6 and hooker, as well as being a viable utility for the 17, so he's got good value heading into next year.

After Madden you could let Fletcher Baker walk and you've then freed up at least $600k to re-sign Reynolds and a minimum salary forward (is Semu top 30 yet?)... or just sign Powell, etc.

Agreed.
Madden is the one the club needs to have a chat with. Even a release for next season to the UK and sign him for 27 if both the club and him want to stay. Baker is a easy one to just not sign for next year.
I wouldn't want to lose someone like Cobbo to keep Adam for one year.

The 9 situation could play a part too, Paix is going well ATM but Mozer is still yet to return and Ezra makes him way into the team to at some point. If Hunt ends up going to 9 to make way for Ezra and Mozer pushes his way onto the bench, we still have Billy for another year and Paix might be in cup with some form to start the year which could spark interest from other clubs. He may be one that gets squeezed out if we can't move Madden on.
