Who wouldn't want to be an NRL journalist? You never get fact checked, you don't need to actually work like a reporter and you can be doing whatever you want online all day and just do five minutes entering a prompt into ChatGPT and get paid for whatever it spits out.

Perfect job.
You should apply for a cadetship.

If you want to start out in journalism, it's helpful to differentiate between reporting (news), opinion (editorial, columnists) and analysis, rather than to lump them all in as "journalism."

Here's a couple of primers:

And also that bias - including "factual reporting" - is normal across publications, and the degree of bias might differ between editorial and news.

Plus you end up on nrl360, great career progression.

I have listened to a few Kenty pod casts .
I don`t like the guy , but he does talk sense a lot of the time on the independant pod cast he does .

In broadcast TV, the cheat code is to make yourself a household name on the sporting field and then start your own podcast. But Yvonne went the cadet route. Or make your own niche like Timmy Williams.

Rugby League is taking off in the Peoples Republic of China. Someone needs to keep their administration in line. Who better than @Sproj ?

The other night when the Tigers prop ran over a cpl of forwards ?
That was straight up the guts . Not isolated out on an edge .

I thought Gos was being selfish .
His arm was clearly not up to the job . And you have another 2nd rower on the bench .
Time to put your hand up .
Maybe he couldn't? :rofl

I'll see myself out.....

He was favoring that arm .
Saw him clutching it and trying to shake it out .Then got run over a cpl of times . Seemed bizare to me that Madge left him on when Hunt was on da bench .

Doesn't surprise me tbh. Used to make some good points on 360 but would go over the top and sensationalise everything

He does talk about scripting and what the NRL tells them is OK and what is not .

Kenty`s job description on NRL 360 was to be the contraian .
He has been replaced by Kenty 2.0 in Ready who does a poor job .

Without the script and the NRL managing things , he can say more what he really thinks .I swear he`s not as stoopid as NRL 360 framed him .

I don't think that's possible. It may be, but I'd be surprised....
Last update I saw, was an adjournment to allow the production of medical / psychiatric reports to be submitted on behalf of the defendant, with submissions to Prosecutions to follow to allow a situation where a trial won't be proceeding.

Which appears to indicate that they are seeking to have the matter referred via the Mental Health Court (ie: unfit or otherwise not competent to stand trial) or alternatively enter a plea of guilty with some submissions on the specific indictment she will plead to and likely future sentencing.

Due back in court on 22 April 2025 and we may know more then.

Reports today have come out that Madden was considering heading to the Super League ... but Super League rules will prevent the move from happening.

Under Super League rules, Australian players must have played 50 per cent of NRL matches the previous season to play in the UK. Madden only played 10 NRL games in 2024

How does that work for reserve graders who go over like O'Neill, Horne, Cini, etc?

absolutely no idea.

I heard in from Zane Bojack on ABC radio this afternoon ... then just read it in Badel's article

Such a weird rule... Is the point of it just so ESL teams aren't grabbing reject players that are past their prime?

Because it doesn't seem to be helping as old guys looking for a retirement paycheque keep turning up over there (JWH, Moose, Napa, Maloney, etc.).

I can't really see them jagging gun players that are NRL regulars... ESL can't compete on a salary level and there's more and more teams coming into the NRL.

You'd think they would want to be a place where guys maybe on the fringe want to head so they can get exposure.

Bevan French is the example they should be trying to replicate. I wouldn't have thought he played 50% of the NRL games before he went over there... same with Jye Field who couldn't crack the NRL side, Albert Kelly, etc.

There would be plenty of guys over here that aren't able to get a crack who could head to ESL and become a star, even if it's just to get an NRL contract at least you've had them in your system to draw eyes to the product.

@Sproj, I just fond the rules. here is the rule regarding Migrant players playing in the NSW / QLD cup comps

NSW Cup and Queensland Cup: The player must be aged 24 or under at the point of application and the player has played in 75% matches including play off matches, but not pre-season matches, in the last Season (if the application is made before the End of Season Registration Date) or the current Season (if the application is made after the End of Season Registration Date) (i.e. if the application is made on or before 2nd August 2024, the 2023 season and, if the application is made after 2nd August 2024, the 2024season)

There are a few who really have become stars over there:
French, Field, Hurrell, Croft, Ese'ese, Mago, Parcell, Keighran, Dufty, Sironen
