I don't know what contract Karapani has, but maybe he'll replace that one. He can play fullback, so that's handy. We do seem to be long a back or two if we keep Cobbo and Staggs.

Can't afford him. We would need to pay above 600k to land him and that's money we just don't have.
Our only option is to promote from within or find a cheapie on the market.

I think if you pick between cobbo and staggs you would go close to covering his price there are also another 10 or so off contract atm too.
Then for 2026 decide if you want to go all in on piakura or riki and let the odd one out go at the end of 2027

Dead-set NO.
Reasons:
1. He’s breaking Knights bank & we don’t want to do that.
2. He’s a penalty magnet & much worse than our current back rowers.
3. Doubt he would fit in at our club.
What I’m waiting for very keenly is - after R10, we can look for blokes who’re not in our top 30. We can at least find a middle/lock/back rower amongst them.

NRL Players I would be interested in who are off contract in 2025 and why (note contract information is in accordance with Zero Tackle and may not be accurate):
Grant Anderson:
If we loose Cobbo or Staggs, I think Anderson would be a decent enough replacement until our Mal Meninga boys get a season or 2 of QCup experience. I hope the rumour that we have signed him already are true.
Daine Laurie:
Utility back to replace Perham as depth. I have always believed there is a quality footballer there somewhere. Maybe a fresh start in QLD would do him good?
Te Maire Martin:
Similar to the above but better. Probably too good to be depth.
Tom Duffy/Jake Clifford: Cowboys can't have all the toys, if Adam does not go around 1 more year I would want either of these players to replace him as depth and put pressure on Coby. Duffy is unlikely but would be incredible, and looks like Clifford is off to Super League.
Ethan Bullemor: Kobe replacement who can actually play second row.
Jamal Shibasaki: Come play with your brother Jamal, we need second rowers.

Shibasaki would be great as someone to target.
Cows backrow stocks are getting up there with Nanai, Luki and Bateman... although John Bateman has yet to finish a contract that he's signed.
Jamal was a big prospect coming through and has barely been given a chance in first grade... he was in the broncos system, but switched to cows to stay in Townsville, but I think that was as an 18yr old so makes sense to stay somewhere he's comfortable and develop.
He's almost 20yr now so maybe us having Gem could see him willing to move... especially with the complete lack of backrowers... he potentially comes here and is an automatic selection in the 17, or maybe even starting.
No if Mozer is done until the end of 2027.
Anderson is two years, 26 and 27.

Not that I'd have any interest in us signing Bullemore... But what type of job would only be available in Sydney.
Also assuming there was a specific profession that you could only do in Sydney, there would be nothing stopping him moving back down once his footy career is over
He has advanced finance and economics and is doing his MBA. I don't think he can't work anywhere else, but I think he has greater opportunities with the company he currently works for in Sydney.
