Struggling Brisbane is set to sign former North Queensland Cowboy Shane Tronc and could even rush him into the side for Friday night's crunch match against the Roosters.

Tronc, who left the Cowboys at the end of 2009, has been playing for Wakefield in the English Super League and is said to be unsettled.

The 28-year-old was one of the Cowboys shining lights last year in what was a particularly dour season for the Townsville based club, and is keen to return to the NRL.

Brisbane are desperately trying to have his contract lodged with the NRL in time for the Round 4 clash with the Roosters at the SFS.

The Queensland club has been on the lookout for a new prop since the departure of Joel Clinton last season and the club's coaching staff believe Tronc could be the workhorse type forward they have been searching for.

Tronc flew back from England yesterday in order to finish contract negotiations with the Broncos.

The link should work now Clintos.

Pretty happy with this signing TBH. We need someone like Tronc to help out Kenny. If his stats last season are anything to go by, he'll be a tremendous signing for us.

Be awesome if he plays against the Roosters, type of boost the team needs.

Yeah, it's fixed now. Thanks.

Praise the lord, we have a prop!

Hmmmm time will tell but boy could we use the go forward. Personally, never rated Tronc that highly but I hope he goes well!

YES THAT IS FANTASTICCCCCC!!!!!
We are desperately missing one or two good props, he will fill a huge void. I think he can make an immediate impact tbh, if he plays against the Roosters I'm confident we can win.

He is a prop who makes 10m per hitup and doesn't often get dominated or pushed back like Kenny does at times. Perfect signing and will help Kenny and Anderson concentrate on quality over quantity with there runs.

Hopefully it's actually going to happen because Tronc is just what we need.

I've done the flight to England, and if Tronc is playing on Friday night against the Roosters and doesn't fall asleep before half time he's put in a great effort.
Great signing imo. Will really help us out.

Well the article's not there any more and I can't find anything else anywhere on the net..

But hopefully we've signed him. Kenny and Tronc starting would be great, and we'd have a bit more stability with Anderson coming off the bench. I remember thinking we should have tried sign him when he left the Cowboys.

Love your work, we would be foolish to let this chance slip.

I said it before but this takes our front row from average to a good maybe great front row rotation. Tronc was in the form of his life last year and if he's going as good as they say he is in super league he will kill it!

This better not be an April fools joke ning. because if it is its not funny [eusa_naugh

If we have signed him it is great news. I thought the Cowboys made a big mistake by retaining Webb over Tronc. Tronc was great last year for the cows and at 28 is starting to come to the best years for a prop.

It so is. look at the punctuation in the article!

Nice work tho Ning.

May be a grain of truth to it given Mike Coleman says Tronc has flown home in the article posted in the "Where has the money gone" thread.

The freeing-up of the last year of Marsh's contract money came too late for the Broncos to change the make-up of their initial squad, although there is some chance it will go towards securing former Cowboys front-rower Shane Tronc, heading home this weekend after a short stint with English club Wakefield.

Tronc is named in the Wakefield squad for this weekend but they have an extended bench with a prop so who knows if he will lace up.
