Struggling Brisbane is set to sign former North Queensland Cowboy Shane Tronc and could even rush him into the side for Friday night's crunch match against the Roosters.
Tronc, who left the Cowboys at the end of 2009, has been playing for Wakefield in the English Super League and is said to be unsettled.
The 28-year-old was one of the Cowboys shining lights last year in what was a particularly dour season for the Townsville based club, and is keen to return to the NRL.
Brisbane are desperately trying to have his contract lodged with the NRL in time for the Round 4 clash with the Roosters at the SFS.
The Queensland club has been on the lookout for a new prop since the departure of Joel Clinton last season and the club's coaching staff believe Tronc could be the workhorse type forward they have been searching for.
Tronc flew back from England yesterday in order to finish contract negotiations with the Broncos.
