Also with Staggs out for half the season Bird could have been Staggs replacement at centre.
Maybe Bird could have made it through enough games for Staggs to come back but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Can’t say that I’m in the least bit disappointed to lose an over paid injury riddled player with rheumatoid arthritis just to top it off. Unfortunately for Bird his injuries are just gonna keep coming thick and fast.

The only thing I can imagine is that the broncos medical know he’s not going to come good. Because unless there’s a big name coming to replace him or we they are paying for 600k or so of his contract, I really don’t see the benefit

The only way I'll stomach Bird leaving is if it was the club's decision (Walters) to let him look elsewhere. Because there should be a clause in player's contracts that if a certain year is the player's option, and they end up going elsewhere for that season, the club should not have to pay a fucking cent.

If Walters doesn't want him ... it's better to let him leave and free up 500-600k to get a player Walters does want, rather than force him to keep a player he doesn't.
when Bennett came back in 2015, we were paying for several players to play against us, because Bennett didn't want them

I can see why they are paying to move him. Holding is as risky as selling him. Should never have been signed in the first place. Not kevvies fault. Hope they move lodge next. Hopefully they have a decent replacement lined up for bird.

I can understand moving Bird, due to the injury risk, but I still don't understand the idea of moving lodge, he is a decent leader as well.
One bad season of injuries alot of which was the clubs fault doesn't do him justice.
