I know it's going to draw mixed feedback on here, but we really need to talk about Ben Hunt again. His days as an out and out Half look over to me, but as a Dummy Half he's honestly got so much to offer and it would be fascinating to see him play that role for us again if we could make it happen. Would take a heap of pressure off Dearden and Milford to control the play as Hunt could do a lot of that from Dummy Half. He'd also give us a good injection of experience in a spine that is otherwise desperately lacking it.

Depends on what money he wants. Maybe if the dragons want bird we can take Hunt. I don’t know, either way we can’t pay him what he’s currently on.

I don't think you are going to get much of an argument about him basically being a gun hooker. The problem is that he doesn't see himself as a hooker. If he was happy to play 9, he would be top 3/4 in the comp. As a half, he is overpriced and under-performs.

I wonder if the Dragons might be able to be persuaded to trade one for the other. It would mean we're overpaying for Hunt but they'd also be overpaying for Bird and it would give us a far more useful asset for our money than we currently get.

I guess it comes down to if you could handle taking on his 1.2m salary for 22 and his p/o for 23

Hunt was the best half on the field last night, Munster a close second. How DCE got motm is completely lost on me. I thought he was terrible.

If you watched the first 20 minutes, I would totally agree. After the first 20, he was excellent. He wasn't best on ground but he was excellent.

It's obviously overpaying but we're also hugely overpaying on Bird as well so I think there might be some potential for them to somewhat cancel one another out.

Might be alright for this year but after you still have a 1.2m player on your books for potentially two more years.
If he was around the 700k Mark would be a good deal but 1.2m in 22 could get you alot more than Ben hunt

I thought Paps was in with a big shout. Absolute leader out there last night.

Yeah I don't disagree with you that it's a lot of money but I would say you need to consider it against what other elite Dummy Half options would cost, if they were even able to be purchased in the first place from their current clubs. It's as much or even slightly more than they probably cost but it's at least in a similar ball park and given how critical this position is in the modern game it might still work out to be a decent investment on our part.

I never thought dce was a goal kicker but he nailed them when it mattered.

Just like oates doesnt see himself as a winger but a forward😳

I’d be happy with that trade. Hunt has his flaws but he’s always trying. I think he’d get a big morale boost coming home

Probably say bye-bye to re-signing Coates after last night.
SOO debut and try at 19, far too good to be at this club.
Add Capewell to the list. He was gettable from Nov 1, same story there I reckon, too good for this club and this ridiculously incompetent board.
