Broncos vs Bunnies - Build up thread

I've read on another forum (no source) that the Bunnies are set to miss pretty much their whole pack bar Lowe...

Asotasi, Stuart, Pettybourne, Crocker to injury.
Taylor and Burgess to rep duty.
Luke to suspension.

I don't know whether they have any depth in their Fwd ranks, but if the above is true, we could possibly steam roll them and get those 48 points. eusa_think
Asotasi and Stuart are right to play.

Cool .... good for us icon_thumbs_u
Yep, very good for us, for once we'll go into an origin period match against an equally(well still less IMO) crippled team than us.

The grub Luke is out. He tried hard to take out JT late after kicks, got no penalty against him caused no injury but cops a suspension, wrong last name I suppose. Anyway all the better for us.

Interesting: The bookies have us as favoutites ($1.80 to Souths' $2.00).

Might change depending on Luke outcome.

Yep. Broncs $1.65 Souths $2.20

When you look at who's out for the two teams it's no wonder.

Souths:
Issac Luke, Pettybourne, Crocker, Geddes, Jaiman Lowe, Ben Ross, McPherson, Sam Burgess, Dave Taylor.

Broncos:
Darren Lockyer, Sam Thaiday, Israel Folau, Justin Hodges

Broncos pack not badly affected, but the Rabbits are rooted up front.

Does anyone know what's happening with Crocker? He seems to be a week by week proposition atm

Well it's about time we get an origin match where we actually have a chance :)

His achilles is still dodgy. Not to mention he's a retard.

Thats good for us because i really don't rate most of their backline but the forward pack is why they have been doing so well.

Same can be said for most teams, if the big-boppers aren't doing their thing .. the backs can't do their stuff.

Souths still have danger men like Merrit sniffing around the middle of the ruck so we'll have to be on our game in D, but with that many starting forwards out i reckon we should win this one.

Their forward pack isn't too bad even with those players out. Asotasi, Luke Stuart, Ben Lowe etc. are all quality players. But without Isaac Luke, I don't know where their points are going to come from.

Yeah, I'm confident for a few reasons.

1. The form of Burgess and Taylor has been outstanding, and has lifted the other lesser names in the pack
2. The form of the lesser names in the pack was further boosted by the excellent service and smart ball playing of Issac Luke
3. The Souths backline has been playing above its weight because of the space Sandow and Sutton have had as a result of points 1 and 2.

They will find it very tough to get forward momentum, they will find it very tough to get space out wide, and so they will find it tough to score points.

The Broncos though need to make sure they ARE getting forward momentum, ARE finding space, and ARE making the most of it.

If they continue the form of the past 4 games, there's no reason whatsoever the Broncos can't make it 5 on the trot. But if they show up thinking about who Souths don't have in their team, they will be beaten.

Yeah, that was a concern of mine. Focusing on who the opposition don't have in the team, thinking it will be a walk in the park.

Bingo.

It's happened so many times before teams taking their opposition lightly because of who's out.

Wests Tigers vs Brisbane Broncos, 2002, anyone?

Any idea who will be playing hooker for souths then??? I dont even know if they have a good reserve hooker!!!!

Simpson spent a bit of time there in NSW cup last year IFRC and has played there from the bench for the Rabbits a few times. Do they still have Faloon? You would think he would be first choice back up if so.

Souths are really light on forwards. They will be playing backs in the backrow, so hopefully with out heavy bench we can bash them to death.
