You'll hit a lot of traffic at the M2, but once you're on the M7 it'll be sweet all the way. Then once you hit the M5 it'll be banked up big time on the Hume (M5) because there are road-works all the way until the Campbelltown Exit.
However, if you'll be leaving later than that then you may as well get on the Eastern Distributor, then onto General Holmes Drive then onto the M5 as geographically it's closer and you'll come the same amount of traffic.
