Broncos withdraw their two year offer to Greg Inglis

The Storm have lost like 20 players, had 2 premierships, 3 minor premierships and all prize money taken from them.

Their best signing before Champion was a 20 year old winger from New Zealand. The rest were dregs who spent more time in Qld/NSW Cup.

Penalty served from my end.

Slater
Smith
Cronk

Sure, maybe they should have been broken up, but really. Is it any different to other teams?

Lockyer
Hodges
Thaiday

And we were going to have Inglis.

Don't forget Hannant either, he isn't coming cheaply.

This really isn't like the Dogs at all, their players were able to sign on for less, Storm haven't had that luxury.

So champion bites the bullets and jumps ship. Greg signs with Souths and Champion forte Storm. Well thank god it's all over. Wonder how much they pressured or "paid" Champion..... Hmmmmm. Let's it now been put to bed. Bring on 2011!

And for Christmas,

Souths booted from comp after being caught cheating on the Inglis contract.
Lockyer retires after season ending injury in round 1.
Wallace walks out on Broncos after being dropped due to bad form.
Norman and Hunt lead the Broncos to the GF beating Bennets Dragons 48-12

Ban him!! Lolz how about he retires after the 48-12 GF win

Lockyer gets radiated, and becomes really young again, while carrying over all of his footy experience, and plays for the Broncos for another 15 years.

Ben Hunt is bitten by a radioactive Alan Langer and goes on to the be the best half back in Broncos history.

How the **** were Melbourne able to sign anyone?

How were Melbourne even able to keep their big 4? They could have kept Inglis if he wanted to stay. I can't believe they can rort the cap like that and still have a decent team for 2011.

Agree it's a joke. Just like when the Bulldogs cheated the cap, 2 years later they won a Premiership. The penalties in AFL are a lot more harsh but also a lot more fair (Carlton for example)

Carlton got raped and it took them forever to get back to a half decent side.

Have a look at the Storm gains and losses, definitely served their penalty imo. Like Nashy said, they have a similair dynamic to most teams now - 3 really well paid guys and a smattering of others.

Did the Bulldogs receive a penalty? Or the Warriors?

To me it's a case of just move on, no need to remind fans, especially in an expansion area what they did.

TBH, they've handled this much better than the Dogs who were able to resign players on cheaper contracts. At least with the Storm they had to honor the initial contracts.

They've been punished enough, to lose the history they have, the players and all the money I think it's time to just let them move on. No need to keep rubbing their noses in it like a dog or a cat.

+1.

Imposing massive penalties would be the death knell of league in Victoria. There are countless stories in sports where teams have rorted systems and been given massive punishments and never ever recovered.

Yet they were able to keep 3 of the best players in the competition. Their rorting of the salary cap allowed them to continuously retain these players over many years. Not only that, but Inglis could have stayed at the Storm if he wanted to. What sort of penalty is that if the can keep their best players?

What penalty did they serve any way? [icon_shru Can someone tell me? Being asked to get under the salary cap isn't a penalty, it's a policy that they should have by abide by from day 1. Did they get a cut in their salary cap for the next 5 years? Nope. Did they get told to immediately get under the cap when they were found out? Nope. So what's the "Penalty".

They were playing at an ADVANTAGE for the last 5 years, so they should have been given a DISADVANTAGE for the next 5 years. They aren't disadvantaged for the next 5 years, they are now just on a level playing field by meeting the salary cap requirements. They lost a heap of players that they shouldn't have had in the first place, therefore it's not a "Penalty".

The only "Penalty" they received was the stripping of their premierships but considering they didn't deserve them anyway, then that's not really a penalty either is it?

Put it this way - If someone gets busted for fraud, they are told to give back the money but they are also charged with the offence, meaning they may serve gaol time (that's a penalty) or they are given punishment in some other way that will impact their lives (A big fine on top of it, community service)

The stripping of their premierships and paying back their prize money was like paying back the money they "stole". Being asked to get under the salary cap again was like telling someone who committed fraud to "Abide by the law".

The Storm have received no penalty.[/quote:2txat6ig]

People who spell jail the old way are losers. Just saying.

ANyway. Your litle penalty rant. Lets go with fraud, since that's what I know.

You are right. They had to pay the NRL restitution... and they were fined. There's your penalty. It's BS. But it's what has happened, and they are now within the rules.

Half a million was the penalty.

WTF?

Warriors paid a $430,000 fine, and started the next year on -2 points for something the previous useless admins did. How is that not a penalty?

Deadset.
