Interesting Karl de Kroo article in the Courier Mail this morning regarding our backline options with Folau going. Bruno was saying we are not going to rush into signing anyone and we may wait to see what comes from the Melbourne situation (but we cannot talk to any of the Melbourne players at the moment). Kudos to Bruno he came across reasonably well in this article.

At the end he also left it open for both Hunt and Folau to come back to the Broncos if things do not work out in AFL. Should we have them back if that occurred?

As angry as I was (am) with Harmichael about leaving the way he did, if he wanted to come back I wouldn't be too bothered. No different to Ben Hannant. Ultimately what counts is quality players and if he wants to come back to league, he should come back to the Broncos.

Folau, well, if he wanted to sure, talk to him. But he was only here 2 seasons and not a "Bronco" really, so I wouldn't expect he'd have much attachment to the place.

To be honest I'd rather not see Hunt or Folau back. I loved watching both play for the Broncos but if it came down to loosing a junior player or re-signing either i would be stronly against it.

They moved over, although I can't be angry at them for leaving for the money I won't feel like they are Broncos players anymore. Therefore give the more loyal players at the time more money (if deserved that is).

I can't find this article, do you have the link?

Regarding them coming back to RL and the Broncos, I know I'll probably go against the grain, but I would have more issues with Khunt returning than Folau. The latter was never dishonest or hypocritical about his future, and treated the matter and the club with the due respect.
On the other hand, Khunt knew the club was making decisions regarding other players to keep him and only made an announcement once it suited his agenda, and made sure Origin wasn't jeopardised for him.

I couldn't find it online either au, I had a good look. It is about 5 pages in in the sports section of today's courier mail

Ahh, ok. It's in the printed edition only.

i think it's a clever piece of work from cullen. by saying this publicly, now everyone knows (and most importantly the player managers) the broncos are keen to look inglis, slater etc. but he hasn't broken any rules

+100.
Hunt fucked the club over big time, Folau was 100% honest, kept the club in the know and did it quickly, unlike Hunt who waited till after Origin and gave the club no idea.

Hunt is a classic case of the guy who had too much too soon and doesn't have emotional intelligence to cope.
Izzy exists on a different level. He is simpler, but purer.
He is young and thinks that money is the answer.
However, when he gets older, he will know it is.

Why doesnt the league do this:
1- Allow each club to spend an extra 3mil a year on players who show loyalty. So we have the normal salary cap where most of the players get payed from as well as the loyal players. Then we have the extra 3mil for the loyal players who have played for more then 5yrs at one club. So basically Lockyer gets his lets say 500k a year from the normal salary and then because he has shown loyalty by playing for more then 5yrs at the Broncos the Broncos can choose to pay as much as they want to him out of the extra 3mil. So they could choose to pay Lockyer, parker, and thaiday an extra 1mil each per year. Or they could simply say lockyers gets 2mil and thaiday and parker get an extra 500k each.

I am using Lockyer, parker and thaiday as an example because they are the only three that have been at the Broncos for 5+ years. Hodges might sneak in there too.

They're doing that soon. The years and amounts were released after the Storm fuckup.

Are they still going ahead with that loyalty scheme or are they dropping it now that they've decided(well according to Cmail) that they're going to add 300k to the cap?

Both together would be great.

And we're still on the "Hunt fucked the club over" thing. FFS, Hunt turned down our offer, how the hell does that not indicate that he is leaving????

WHAT price Bruno Cullen will no longer be at the helm of the Broncos next year?

Pretty short according to Queensland sources, who reckon 2010 will be Cullen's last in charge of the NRL powerhouse. It's believed the CEO, who turns 62 this year, is privately questioning whether to step down after a long and successful stint that delivered a premiership in 2006. Cullen's contract at the club expires on December 31.

Well there we go..

I don't have a clue about the structure of the club's management.. so, who would step up to replace him if he left? Or would we look for someone from outside the club?

I've heard rumours that Andrew Gee is being groomed for this purpose... eusa_think
But then, we'll need someone to step into Gee's place... [icon_shru

Gawd...Gee as CEO...he'd sound dumber than Peter Parr.
