Bulldogs Drama

I think they should be given curfews rather than ban alcohol.

Yep, that would've stopped the love scrum in the toilets. Oh wait, no, that was at like 6pm on a Saturday after an 11 hour bender....

I agree, all a curfew would do is make idiots drink more in a shorter window.

I've said it since Alhambra, I think the only solution is to ban PUBLIC drinking and/or attending known trouble spots (like the Normanby). Drink privately. Still a risk of players biffing eachother, or whatever, but much LESS risk of it being a public story.

Plus before anyone uses the excuse that they have a stressful job and they need to unwind with a bit of booze, don't make me list the 105078993 jobs that are more stressful, more important, lower paid and less enjoyable than being a professional rugby league player.............

I don't agree with how the players act they are destroying the fabric of the game I just can't see players accepting a booze ban. If the players had half a brain they would have woken up to themselves and stopped with all the stupidity.

I don't think an alcohol ban is the way to go. Most probably what will happen then is the minority of players that drink to stupidity now will still go out and drink to stupidity even worse or more often as a way of rebelling and/or to get some kind of weird pride/kudos if/when they get away with it.

A zero tolerance policy on drinking to stupidity is what is needed and I think the NRL to their credit is starting to go this way more and more.

I agree Coxy a ban on public drinking I totally agree with IMO. Problem is if players can't drink in public and still wanna hit the town and be released of pressure drugs will come into the fold..

Yep, probably the best option is to have a set number of night spots that have club chaperons present for players to attend. Chaperons keep an eye on them and tell them to cool it if they're getting too far gone, or go home. If they go anywhere else, BOOM. Suspensions/fines etc.

I agree Coxy you are a thinking man.

The incident by itself is so small that nobody would have batted an eyelid, had there not been some dickhead there to make his 30 seconds of fame.

That said, added to all the recent off-field discretions it doesn't look good.

The best news is, hopefully the dogs fight when sober and their season comes off the rails :P

Ben Barba is an idiot for having a go at Idris.... did he take into account the size difference? hahaha what a muppet

Common thing when you're drunk to not use that logical reasoning. That's why some people get badly hurt.

It happened in a public place which kicked them out, therefore it's news. AGain, if players had their post-match booze ups at a player's house, nothing would happen.

Myles and Mason have both been stood down from this weeks games after having a drink at their own house on Sunday. neither of them were apparently under the influence at training on Monday, but Freddy Fittler asked them after training if nyone had had a drink oer the weekend and these guys put their hand up.

Yeah but the Roosters code of conduct is different to every other teams. They're not allowed to drink before training, this is why they got caught out.

What Coxy's trying to say is, if these Dogs players or any other players but Roosters players were out at a mates house boozing up and getting drunk, nothing would have happened.

Obviously some members of the bulldogs have issues with others (who goes around hitting people they like, even when drunk), so it probably would have still happened regardless of the venue. The only difference would have been it probably wouldn't have become public knowledge.

That was more where I was going with it. If it's in a private house you reduce the number of people who can squeal to the media by plenty.

Shit can still go on in private, I'm not that dumb...hell, there's been gang and single rape allegations stemming from private premises involving leaguies (oh hai Laffranchi), but most of these minor things would never see the light of day if nobody tipped off the media.

"Bulldogs insiders told The Daily Telegraph that a chirpy Barba had been getting under the skin of both players during a get-together at skipper Andrew Ryan's house earlier in the afternoon."

You're right though, had they not decided to move from Ryan's house to a local pub, no one would hav ever known

once again its just little boys with too much money and too much time on their hands. maybe teams need to have more funcions at teir leagues clubs were players invite friends and family and can all be monitored properly.

Maybe teams need to get ridiculous and have small training sessions 6 days a week, so players arent given a day to slack off and drink excessively.
