Or because no one knows who the hell they are in Melbourne!

Inglis? Does he play for Collingwood?

Smith is the grub captain, not Australian captain HTH.

But fact of the matter is he is a complete **** wit!!!

Hasn't been much press of him out on the turps mucking up! Can't be that bad a bloke...

Who cares? He's just a complete **** wit regardless! Same goes for his merry men too.

LOL at all the people saying it's because we lost. I hated the Storm, and Smith's whinging before that game, so your little argument is null and void.

Actually, I've been calling for all those grubs to get penalized/suspended since the start of last year, biggest grubs ever.

Now we have Turner coming out and saying "its in the best interest of the game to not suspend smith as thefans want the best players playing in September"

WTF!!

If he doesnt get at least a game then it sends the message that you grapple as much as you want.

Geyer and Sattler are right in saying the carryover points isnt working but just because a "star" player will miss the finals boof**kin hoo. Dont wanna get suspended dont grapple tackle.

/rant

It's in the best interest of the game that Cam Smth does NOT Rip Thaiday's head off causing him injury enough to leave the field in place of Sims...that was NOT IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE GAME.

Melbourne you whingers, you shouldn't have grappled and you wouldn't be in this predicament.

The only reason Geyer is on the band wagon is his bro, I tell ya if roles were reversed he'd be crowing for a suspension.

FTR i don't think Cam Smith is a grubby player. I used to hate him cos of his sooking that the Broncos didn't give him a contract, however he's grown up a lot and has earnt his respect. But the Tackle was dodgy because of the way they train, and he should be suspended.

LOL at all the Melbourne lovers trying to defend this ****.

LOL at the blind hatred that spews forth from this forum constantly.

I am as shattered and heartbroken as the next, however WE lost the game. They didn't win it. They didn't do abnormal things to make us lose. We weren't that kid in class being picked on.

We straight lost it. Excuses will never bring the game back.

FTR; Smith should get 2 weeks, but the over the top ranting is what is LOL'able, not the people defending this charge.

The only real question is;

Why hasn't Crocker been charged? His first contact was with Kemp's chin. That is a grade 1 immediatly?

Blind hatred my arse Hammo. I hate Melbourne because they get away with the cowardly tactics they use. It's disgusting and it is a cancer on the game. And don't feed me that sh*t about other clubs using wrestling tactics too. Maybe they do, but if you can't admit that Melbourne take it too far and use it as an unfair advantage then you must be high or drunk.

This has all gotten hysterical in the last day or so. One would hope those on the panel are keeping well away from all the media activity. Yes it's a shame that any player misses a finals game through suspension but you have to look at the footage provided and on what's been presented it was a grapple tackle. I get the feeling the judiciary are going to make an example of him. The NRL have wanted to crack down on this and rubbing out the Melbourne captain for the rest of the year will clearly send a message.

Elias, Tallis, Waldron and anyone else defending the tackle need their heads read. It was dangerous and we need to **** that shit off out of our game.

They don't really get away with these 'cowardly tactics' if their captain and best player is charged do they?

And I will feed you that shit about other clubs using it. The only reason Melbourne get done iwth it all the time is because they do it the best and they are the best team. It isn't an unfair advantage, it's just that they are better at it than everybody else.

Ps, the worst part of all this is that the referees have only started to crack down on grapples in the past week or so. The refereeing of our game is appalling. One week it's grapples, the next it's protecting the kicker, the next it is the way footballs are grounded. It's just that the grapple is the flavour of the month for Finchys boys so that's what they are cracking down on. It's crap, I'm sure if you went through every game played this year there would be tackles a hell of a lot worse than Cam's that have gotten off without a thought.

Could have something to do with the fact that, oh, I don't know, grappling is DANGEROUS?

http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,865 ... 14,00.html

Thaiday could have been paralysed

A LEADING Sydney medical expert has condemned Cameron Smith's grapple tackle and claimed it could have left Broncos' forward Sam Thaiday a paraplegic.

Sports doctor Nathan Gibbs and renowned orthopaedic surgeon Merv Cross spoke emotionally about the dire consequences the NRL faced over the grapple tackle.

Gibbs, a former Souths and Parramatta forward who is now club doctor for the Sydney Swans, compared the grapple to WWE wrestling.
....

Gibbs was critical of the tackle.

"The most likely consequence is that it could render a player unconscious," Gibbs said.

"It is akin to a choker hold. It's like a WWE wrestling hold but this is real. If a player wrenches the neck and then pulls the head away, you can injure the spine.

"If that happens, there is a range of potentially serious consequences - the worst being damage to the spinal cord which could lead to a player becoming a paraplegic.

"We don't want one of these injuries to happen then say we should have done something about it."

Far out. 2 weeks for a potentially life threatening injury...seems fair to me.

 So it's ok cause they are the best at cheating? That's ridiculous. Other clubs don't use the tactics like Melbourne and if they do use certain moves in the tackle it's not for the same purpose as Melbourne. Take your storm glasses off. Everyone else in the NRL can see how bad Melbournes tactics are but anyone who supports the storm just refuses to accept it.

They've been getting away with these COWARDLY tactics for ages, and only now are they going to face some retribution for it if he gets charged.

Exactly. What was Smith trying to achieve with his tackle on Thaiday? Bend him over onto his back. Did he need to wrench at his neck and head to do it? No. He could've released his grip and gone lower around the chest for the same effect.

Why didn't he? Because having your arm around a bloke's neck and pulling their head is going to stop them fighting because they don't want to get hurt!

It's disgusting tactics, end of story, and he must cop the full 2 weeks.

He should have been suspended from a couple of tackles in the Warriors game as NRL on Fox pointed out.
There were some classic grapples and no action was taken on or off the field, I hope its coincidental that Melb are now playing a Sydney side instead of us. (conspiracy theory [icon_wink )
Smith could have released easily but it would have meant a quick play the ball, he was trying to keep him off the ground to slow the ruck.

I never said it was ok, I just said they are the best at it, therefore everyone else cracks a shit about it. Take your anti-Storm glasses off.

And Coxy when I watch the tackle, I think Jeremy Smith made it worse for Cam. He came over the shoulder of Thaiday, and needed a lever to win the ruck. Because Jeremy was pushing back on the arm, Cam didn't have a lever there so he used the neck. As Thaiday was twisted towards Cam, he went under the right arm of Thaiday and dominated him in the ruck.

Even if he released early it wouldn't have been a quick play the ball because Thiady was east-west.

Smith had more than enough time to realise he had his arms around his head. He should have let go, simple as that. He didn't. 2 weeks. Bye.

I have no doubt J Smith made it worse but Cam had the choice to release and chose to have another go. It doesn't matter how you look at it he is gone.
I would like to see 2 sides at full strength as muchas anyone but he has to get 2 weeks
