Maybe one of the reasons he delayed the decision for so long is to prove to everyone that he easily could have played on. He already holds the record for most games played and was still in career best form in his final year. He probably could have played till he was forty...

His record is gonna take some beating as he seemed to miss very few games through injury.

IMO, the greatest of all time in regards to what he brings to a team. Week in, week out consistancy. A consistancy over a long period of time that no player has ever touched. He also bought the belief and leadership, and made players around him better.

Also he was a brilliant wrestler, and played the ruck to get every advantage he could. An amazing defender, and smart attacker.

You can attribute all these things to being in QLD, Australia, Storm...but imo he turned those teams from great to next level.

I think all elites are like that, Jordan, Lebron, Bones Jones the list of greats can go on and on but they all share traits that border on psychopathy. I don't care about a sportsmans personality, it's all show for the camera anyway. It's fake, what you see in the media is not what you get in person. I predict Smith's ego will drive him into coming out of retirement mid-season, where he will announce he has signed with 2 different clubs and will play out the season for both of them, making sure the NRL changes the draw so these 2 teams don't play at the same time. Should they meet in the finals, Smith will play 1 half for each.

They aren't going to be the same level as the Storm cheating years for sure but let's be honest here, they won't be as good as with Smith but they still will be better than any other spine or at worst on par with the Panthers, Roosters and Rabbits (Actually maybe the Rabbits are just ahead).
