Says to me he would rather not play at all than play for us :ouch:

I think if we weren't a bottom 8 side he might have taken the cash we were offering.

**** you Seibold.

it doesn't say that at all ... he was never going to play for any club other than the Storm.

the fact that he was continually linked to both us and the Titans (he was linked to them far more than us anyway) is just a work of pure fiction from the rugby league reporters desperate for clicks

Legend. Will be interesting to see how Melbourne goes now he's gone. Definitely the Tom Brady of the NRL.

But he knew the Storm wouldn't be able to fit him in at the end of last season. So why drag it out an entire pre-season if he was always finished. He could have announced it after the GF and had all the plaudits (if what he was after is attention like some believe).

I reckon he definitely considered the idea of playing on and it was just a matter of the right price and the right project.

At the end of the day neither option really promised to enhance his legacy so he decided to call it stumps.

Because it's still all about Cam

because he loved the attention ... not to mention by staying in the spot light could have helped his book sales

I just don't think he would have played for any club but Melbourne, especially after the reported rift with Cronk and what it was about. He's a player that clearly cares about his legacy and ultimately, being a one club player was important to that. Why he left it until the day before the start of the season though....well that's just pure ego I think. Make the start of the season about him. Or as Foordy said, to push book sales.

Thanks for everything you did in the Australian jersey Cam and 99% of what you did in the QLD one. For what you did to the Broncos though you can go suck all of the dicks and I hope every time you wake up for a late night piss you step on a piece or two of lego ****. XOX

He was never coming to the Broncos or Titans to play so can't say I'm shocked by retirement when it was always on the cards.

How is he the Tom Brady? He only played for one team. Cronk is the Tom Brady

My impression is that Cam knew 2020 was his last season but he was playing such good football he didn't want to admit it. I think he was so focused on winning the premiership, he didn't want to pay any thought to 2021 and he just wanted to savour that moment as long as he could. I'm sure there were some second thoughts along the way but the sooner the season approached the more he realised he couldn't do his career justice and he had the perfect ending.

He's the best competitor I've seen in Rugby League, nobody had his will to win and he made the game look so easy. I've never seen a more reviled player in my whole life, reading through some Wally Lewis books, it sounds like he's in great company.

How much of a **** is Smith though. Even in retirement had to hog the attention and take it off Billy when he got his statue. I hate the prick. Most self centred player in the comp.
